Friends, hello!
Yes, yes, the box is made of toilet paper. Of course, some other materials were not without, but toilet paper is the basis from which the entire box is made, practically from scratch.
Everyone makes boxes out of wood, plastic, cardboard, but I wanted to do it out of toilet paper and see what happens. The work is quite complex and voluminous, but the result is impressive.
Gentlemen, lovers of crap someone else's work, please pass by, do not write in the comments which is easier to make of wood. It's easier when you have the skills and tools. But most people don't. And this method is available to everyone.
Necessary materials:
· Toilet paper 1.5-2 rolls;
· PVA glue (I have a construction one);
· Empty juice box 2 l;
· Building plaster for walls and ceilings, finishing;
· Brushes, spatula, sandpaper, knife;
2 wooden slats (4X2cm) 35 cm long, scotch tape;
· Stationery rubber bands;
· Roulette or ruler;
· Hair dryer;
· Cloth from a hacksaw for metal;
· Hinges, screws;
· Stencil;
· Napkins;
· Molds (it is possible without them);
Homemade polymer clay, recipe here;
· Thin lace;
· Acrylic paints;
· Acrylic lacquer.
Basically, all materials and tools are simple, and are available from any needlewoman.
Step 1.
Took 2 rolls of toilet paper into a basin and filled it with water. Left to soak for 20 minutes.
Then he squeezed out the paper, loosened the lumps and added some PVA.
There are no proportions as such. If the mass is plastic, then there is enough glue, if it falls apart in my hands, then I also add glue.
Step 2.
I put a lot of papier-mâché on the box from all sides and left to dry for 2-3 days.
Step 3.
After 3 days, the paper with glue dried up and a rigid frame turned out. I spread the putty with a small addition of PVA glue.
I do not recommend adding a lot of glue, since then it will be very difficult to sand.
Step 4.
I applied the putty first from 3 sides, then, when it grabbed a little, putty on the other sides and left to dry for 12 hours.
After that, I sanded the box a little and primed it with liquid PVA.
Step 5.
Now you need to align the future box. To do this, I used 2 slats, which I wrapped with tape so that the putty did not stick to them.
Step 6.
I placed the reiki on the box and pulled them together with rubber bands. I measured the same distance so that the slats were parallel to each other. For this he planted matches.
I set the layer thickness to about 3 mm.
Step 7.
I put putty on the slats and carefully removed them. In order not to wait for a long time, I dried the putty with a hairdryer for 5-7 minutes.
I did the same with all the other parties. The result is a flat design. Left to dry overnight.
Step 8.
I sanded the box with a zero and primed it with liquid PVA.
Smeared minor flaws, dried and sanded again.
Step 9.
I chamfered the corners of the box, so it will look more interesting.
Step 10.
Marked 2 cm on one edge and drew a line around the perimeter. I sawed a box with a cloth from a hacksaw.
Step 11.
He took out the juice box from the inside and cut off the irregularities with a stationery knife.
Step 12.
Covered the box with acrylic primer paint.
Step 13.
I marked the places for the hinges and screwed them with screws. To make the screws better adhere to the paper, I applied PVA glue to them before tightening.
I had long screws, so I shortened them with pliers.
Here's what I got at this stage of my work. Next will be the decor.
Step 14.
The inside of the box was pasted over with crumpled napkins.
When the napkins were dry, they were painted with acrylic paint.
Step 15.
Outside, they glued polymer clay patterns and applied putty through a stencil.
Step 16.
When everything was dry, they painted it first with black paint.
Then a little light brown was added.
And in the end, the protruding parts were tinted with bronze paint.
Step 17.
We covered the entire box with acrylic varnish.
Here's what happened.
