Friends, hello!

Today's article will be of interest to motorists. In general, I wanted to change the gearshift knob in my car, but I found nothing interesting on the market and decided to try to make it myself.

This is my first experience in making a complex silicone mold and then casting liquid plastic into it. I already wrote a detailed article about these materials, if you are interested, read here.

For making, I needed:

· Two-component silicone;

· Liquid plastic;

· Wax separator;

· Stationery rubber bands;

· Plasticine, a can of a drink;

· Needle, nail polish remover;

· Expired pills;

· Knife, scissors.

Step 1.

He took the handle off the box, took it apart and cleaned it, and put it back together.

Step 2.

Cut off the top and bottom of the jar.

Step 3.

He kneaded the plasticine into a cake, lightly stuck a handle into it and placed the tablets around it and covered the jars with a cut.

I sprayed everything thoroughly with wax separator.

Step 4.

I diluted the silicone in proportion and poured it into a jar.

Left for 1 hour.

Step 5.

An hour later, he removed the plasticine, took out the tablets and cut the jar.

Here's what happened.

Step 6.

I put a separator inside the handle and pulled another can over the silicone.

Step 7.

Diluted and poured some more silicone.

Step 8.

After another hour, I removed the jar and unscrewed part of the silicone mold.

It turned out almost perfect, the carving was perfectly imprinted.

Step 9.

I cut the main part of the form in a zigzag, unscrewed the handle and took it out.

Step 10.

He pulled off the mold with rubber bands, mixed 2 components of liquid plastic and poured it into the mold.

Step 11.

After 15 minutes, I took out a new pen.

It turned out not perfect, but for the first time not even bad!

To be honest, I was surprised that it wouldn't be as difficult as I initially thought. Before that I watched some YouTube videos on how to work with silicone. There were quite a few nuances, most of which I simply ignored.

The factory handle weighs 173 grams, while the plastic handle is only 70 grams.

The handle is perfectly screwed into place, like a native. But I will not use it, it does not match the color of the interior of my car. Next time I'll add some dye to the plastic and make the pen the color I want.

If you didn't understand something, then watch the video:

In general, I am pleased with the result of the first such experience in making a not quite simple form.
