Do not throw out old glass, you can make a smart New Year's homemade product from it

Greetings, dear friends and guests of the channel!

I have a stack of old glasses from various Soviet furniture lying in my garage. It's a pity to throw it away, but I didn't know what to do with them. But then on the Internet I saw a photo of an amazing New Year's glass crafts and decided to bring it to life.

For work I used:

· Glass 4 mm thick;

· Diamond glass cutter;

· Marker, ruler;

· A piece of plastic pipe with a diameter of 110 mm;

· Superglue, nail polish remover;

· Bar for sharpening knives;

· Hacksaw, drill, sandpaper;

· Garland electric 5 meters;

· A little bit of acrylic paint.

For this project, I only bought a glass cutter, as my old roller cutter cut very badly. You can also do without a drill. I had everything else, because every day I do something with my own hands.

I will make a reservation right away, I am not a master of glass cutting and I do not teach anyone how to cut it, I only show the idea that something interesting can be made from this glass. I cut the glass about 5 times, so there were a lot of defects and uneven breaks, which I had to refine later.

A huge request to the "glass cutting masters" there is no need to write instructive comments, the work has already been done and the result suits me. Thank you!

Step 1.

Cut the glass into squares. I started with 13 cm, finished with 5 millimeters, and reduced each subsequent size by 5 mm. I made 2 squares of each size.

The most difficult part was cutting the smallest squares, which are 5 by 5 mm.

I cut it like this: I marked the required size with a marker, applied a metal ruler and lightly pressed the risk on the glass. Then he put a skewer under the risk (you can use a match) and break the glass with a light pressure.

I got such a set of individual squares, to be honest, not without effort and sometimes mate 😊

Step 2.

Next, I processed all the cut edges of the glass with a small bar for sharpening knives. The edges turned out to be not perfect, even a little torn, but this is even good for this craft, later you will understand why. The main thing is that now the glass does not cut hands.

Step 3.

I wiped all the glass with nail polish remover, you can use any degreaser or even alcohol.

Step 4.

Using liquid superglue, he began to assemble the structure. But, it is better to glue on a transparent silicone sealant.

Here's what I ended up with. The weight of such a Christmas tree turned out to be a little over 3 kg.

Step 5.

I cut a piece from the plastic pipe. I sanded it with sandpaper and glued a circle of thick cardboard to one side.

Drilled a hole. If you do not have a drill or screwdriver, then you can poke a hole with a knife.

Step 6.

I inserted a garland inside and glued the garland control unit to the outside of the pipe.

Step 7.

Painted with acrylic paint.

Step 8.

I installed a glass structure on a pipe with a garland.

Here is such a wonderful Christmas tree made of glass I got.
