How to dissuade a beekeeper neighbor

Good afternoon, my reader. Beekeeping is a profitable and rewarding business. It is not without reason that even under the USSR, even in the days of Lenin, beekeepers were exempted from taxes: their "petty-bourgeois trade" was beneficial to everyone, including collective farms, by breeding pollinating insects. But the overall benefit does not save those allergic to bee venom. How to escape if your neighbor beekeeper has too aggressive bees?

Causes of aggression

There are several reasons why bees attack people:

  1. Such a breed. For example, "Carpathians" are very peaceful bees that will not sting if they are not crushed. But if a neighbor started something like African "killer bees" (highly productive, but also extremely aggressive breed, attacking just for a sidelong glance towards the hive) - you need to have a thorough conversation with your neighbor and explain what to do this way it is impossible.

  2. The neighbor is a crooked beekeeper. Bees communicate with each other with the help of pheromones, and if you do not follow the rules for handling the hive, it is too easy to "drag out" the entire apiary so that the bees will attack all living things in the summer zone.
  3. Aggressive behavior can also be caused by humans. Bees do not like harsh perfume, alcohol, garlic... as it is believed - and tobacco (smoking beekeepers grin here). Therefore, if bees began to circle around you, just step back a dozen or two meters to the side.
  4. Anxiety pheromones. If you are stung by a bee, it has released volatile substances during the attack, prompting its sisters to continue attacking a potential threat. Therefore, after a bite, you need to instantly pull out the sting stuck in the skin - and rinse or at least lick the wound. Otherwise, after the first bite, the second, third, tenth, hundredth will come... Lethal dose - three hundred stings per day.
  5. Hair and fuzzy surfaces. A bee entangled in its hair gets scared and stings - and after it other bees begin to attack (do not forget about pheromones!). Therefore, it is worth wearing any hat near the apiary - at least a cap or a scarf.

How to solve the problem

If you suffer from allergies (and there is nothing to be ashamed of: even beekeepers have a rule of “thousandth bite” - when you are stung by a thousand bees, you develop immunity... or you finally understand that you personally should not be engaged in beekeeping), you need to act So.

1. Communicate with a neighbor

If the neighbor is adequate, then it is better to talk to him and explain that you just want to live, and not guess where the buzzing threat will come from. Explain to him that:

  • it is better to keep a peaceful breed;
  • no need to anger the bees - you need to use a smoker and not go into the hive during the "non-flying time";
  • hives should be at least 3 m from the fence;
  • the fence must be deaf so that the bees cannot fly through it ("the law of bee trails": if someone is on the bee's path to entrance - the probability of an attack increases many times) - and above human growth (bees do not attack what is below their trajectory flight);
  • The entrances should be directed to the center of the site, and not to the neighboring dacha, and there should not be more than 2 hives per one hundred square meters.

2. Scarers

Bees don't like smells:

  • wormwood;
  • mint;
  • catnip;
  • carnations.

Plant them along the fence with your beekeeper neighbor and the bees most likely won't bother you.

REFERENCE: Soaking rags in vinegar, kerosene or other pungent substances, alas, has almost no effect. In the open air, the smell quickly dissipates, and it is pointless to hang rags on the fence.

3. Going to court

If it was not possible to agree in an amicable way - go to court. To do this, find a good lawyer or legal representative and do not forget:

  • get a certificate that you or your family members are allergic;
  • take pictures of bees in your area;
  • collect affidavits from neighbors.

In a statement to the court, ask your neighbor to stop activities that violate your legitimate interests.

Do you know how to reason with your neighbor beekeeper?
