Long-term existence in cramped apartments, in which it is impossible to allocate a separate room for a full bedroom, has led to the fact that many people in our country are used to sleeping on sofas. Khrushchevs are a thing of the past, but bad habits remain. In many homes, the sofa is still considered a real sleeping place. According to doctors, this is wrong. As elaborate as the folding structure is, it does not provide a quality orthopedic foundation for deep sleep and healthy relaxation. The sofa can serve as a sleeping place only temporarily. The bed is preferable in many ways:

  • it lasts longer;
  • it is easier to fit into the interior of a bedroom or nursery;
  • a failed mattress is easy to update, including on your own, in extreme cases you can buy another one - and in any case it is cheaper than renovating an old sofa.

When choosing a bed, be sure to gather information about the brand that interests you. What is this particular manufacturer? Is bedroom furniture his specialty (this definitely speaks in his favor)? Who recommends the brand beds: company representatives, sales consultant or other buyers? Keep in mind that brand promotion is not a guarantee of high quality. As a rule, it leads to an increase in prices, although the furniture itself may turn out to be of an ordinary level or even be manufactured in violation of technology. If you are willing to pay dearly, then let it be the cost of a really high-quality product, not advertising.

Unambiguously exclude from possible options beds with plastic parts and knots. They will quickly lose their external presentability, and soon they will completely break down. The high quality of furniture is usually indicated by good fittings and reliable connections of parts.

What is the design of the bed

The structure is based on the frame and the base on which the mattress is placed. Traditionally, there are two types of framework:

  • "Two by two": the bed has two side panels (they are called drawers) and two backs,
  • "Four by two": four tsars and two backs (sometimes one is practiced - at the head).

Sometimes legs are used as supports: these beds usually do not have side backs. Among non-standard options, the platform, or podium, is becoming more and more popular. It is convenient for storing accessories and textiles related to the organization of sleep: bed linen, blankets, blankets, pillows.

There is no direct relationship between strength and design feature in relation to beds. Still, individual legs are more likely to break than a solid panel made from chipboard or solid wood. An even more fragile element are the wheels: they give the product mobility, the bed is easier to move when rearranging or cleaning, but they break much faster than any other part. Obviously, wheeled furniture is not designed for heavy people.

From the point of view of the reliability of the bed frame, the leaders are considered structures made of the most durable materials - metal and solid wood. Next to them are rattan furniture: despite its lightness, this natural material exhibits amazing durability. Practicality and beautiful appearance well explain the growing popularity of these materials among manufacturers and buyers.

Frames made of MDF and fiberboard are less reliable. Their weak point is the joints of the panels: this is where cracks usually occur. As soon as they appear, the bed begins to loosen and squeak - this in itself does not contribute to sound sleep, and quickly leads to further weakening of the structure.

Beds with a chipboard frame break even faster: a rare product will last more than 5 years.

Bed base

Having chosen the type of frame, you need to think about the base of the bed. This is the part that rests on the frame and itself serves as a support for the mattress. The quality of sleep depends precisely on its type and material of manufacture.

The base of the bed is a barred frame: slats made of wood or other suitable material are attached to the frame frame. The more lamellas and the thicker they are, the more reliable and comfortable the bed is. According to regulatory requirements, a single bed must have at least 15 slats, a double bed - 30. They are laid in such a way that the distance between adjacent lamellas does not exceed the width of each of them. Beds are also produced with a solid rigid base (wood, for example) and metal springs. Each option has its drawbacks. The wooden base does not spring under the weight of the human body and does not create an anatomically comfortable shape, resting in which allows you to truly relax. The disadvantage of spring beds is that they wear out quickly and begin to sag, and this has a bad effect on the condition of the musculoskeletal system.

Another important item is the mattress. It is often sold complete with a bed, but it can be purchased separately or even custom-made. The latter option is needed for those who suffer from spinal pathologies or have rare structural features of the skeleton.
