The overall efficiency of the heating system depends on the heat transfer of radiators. Those. when choosing heating elements, it is imperative to pay attention to this parameter.
It happens that they bought the radiators, they even managed to install them, and then they learned that according to the passport they did not have too much heat transfer. Unpleasant, but not fatal. It turns out that this problem can be dealt with.
There are several elementary and effective ways to significantly increase the heat dissipation of radiators. The plus is that these methods are not expensive.
I propose to put everything "on the shelves":
1. Air convection, i.e. circulation
Based on personal experience, I can say that sometimes low heat transfer rates in an apartment are caused by overly thick curtains and the presence of decorative shields. Some people prefer not to spoil the appearance of the room with batteries and hide them in beautiful "boxes". As a result, convection is disturbed, air flows pass through the radiator spans, but do not return to the room in the required amount.
To similar problems, I will attribute too wide window sills and special recessed niches in the wall, in which the batteries are carefully placed.
It turns out that you need to choose what is more important to you: beauty or warmth. If the first, then feel free to mask the radiators, just do not forget to dress warmer in the apartment. If the latter, get used to the idea that white batteries are not so old-fashioned and ugly.
2. Radiator indents
When buying a radiator, you do not need to immediately throw out the instructions, as many do. It specifies the technical requirements for the installation of heating system elements: indents from the floor, wall and window sill, which must be observed.
The instruction says that when installing a radiator, you need to retreat from the wall at least 50 millimeters. It is this distance that helps air currents to freely penetrate into the battery compartments, and then return to the room, warming it up. The distance between the radiator and the floor and the window sill should also not be less than 50 millimeters.
When the window sill is wider than the radiator, you need to lower the battery at the rate: 1 centimeter of the ledge of the window sill - 2.5 centimeters of indentation. Otherwise, circulation will be impaired.
3. Heat-reflecting foil screens
Foil screens can increase the efficiency of the entire heating system by several times. The design plays the role of a kind of barrier installed between the radiator and the cold wall. Thanks to the installation of such screens, the overall temperature in the room can rise by 2 - 3 degrees.
4. Changing the method of connecting radiators
There are a variety of radiator options. Today, batteries can be installed sideways, diagonally or downwards.
To achieve better heat dissipation, radiators should be connected diagonally. In this case, the coolant will spread evenly over all sections. In addition, with a diagonal connection, there are practically no areas in radiators where dirt accumulates.
Of all the connection methods, preference should be given to the diagonal one.
Using these tips, you can increase the heat dissipation of your batteries and improve the performance of your heating system.
