Everyone who has seen a police officer in execution with a service weapon must have paid attention to such a subtle, but still very interesting feature, as the design of a pistol holster. Namely, the pistol is always tied to the employee's holster using a special, most often leather cord. Why is this done and it would not be more convenient to do without it?
In fact, the police as such have nothing to do with it. A trench coat or pistol cord is very often found on service weapon holsters. You can see such cords not only from police officers, but also from officers and other armed representatives of security forces. This element is necessary to ensure the safety of the pistol (revolver), as well as to increase the safety of the one who uses this weapon.
Firstly, the pistol trainer simply doesn't let the weapon get lost. It is quite securely fastened to the holster in this way, and therefore even if a policeman or military man has to perform double (and maybe triple) somersaults, walking on hands and crawling on their bellies - you can not worry. In the most extreme case, it will remain dangling on the cord.

Secondly, the cord is needed to increase the safety level of the weapon carrier. When the pistol is attached to the trainer, then an outsider grab it from the holster and use against a police officer (military) or just run away with a service weapon - it becomes almost impossible. This may seem ridiculous and incredible to many, but the police with enviable regularity find themselves in a situation when they are trying to take away their service weapon.
