Good afternoon, my reader. A flower bed is an effective decoration of any summer cottage and garden plot, even if its width is only two meters. It can be arranged right under the windows, near the porch or along the paths. The main thing is to choose the right decorative crops. The best option is to plant unpretentious perennials. In addition, the height of each plant, color and flowering time should be considered.

Panicled phlox

A common winter-hardy, light-moisture-loving garden plant. A perennial belongs to the group of tall phloxes (bushes grow from 60 to 150 cm), so it is better to plant it in the background in a flowerbed. To harmonize with other cultures, choose the color purple or pink.

Inflorescences of paniculate phlox are formed by five-petal flowers (2–5 cm across) of a wide variety of colors, except for yellow tones, and have a very pleasant delicate aroma.

There are a lot of varieties of paniculate phlox, and each of them has its own flowering period. Therefore, in order for the flower bed to remain blooming all summer and until late autumn, you need to plant at least 2-3 varieties together, the flowering of which will smoothly move from one to another.

Caring for this crop is very simple. In the heat, it is necessary to water more often, and periodically feed for lush flowering.

Pink medium-sized astilbe

In landscape design, pink astilbe is valued for its unpretentiousness and high decorativeness: it looks very gentle and at the same time spectacular.

During flowering, astilbe releases lush panicle inflorescences of different shades of pink. Blooms from late June to autumn. With proper care: feeding, timely watering, the flowering period can be extended until mid-September.

In the winter, the aboveground part of the plant dies off, and in the spring it sprouts again from the roots preserved in the ground.

The medium-sized astilbe grows up to 60-90 cm in height, so it can be planted in front of tall phloxes, and the tone of the culture can be chosen at your discretion. There are a lot of varieties of pink astilba, so it is easy to make a selection for different flowering periods.

Day-lily

The silvery-purple daylily can become the highlight of the flower bed. Besides the fact that this flower looks very attractive and has a delicate aroma, it is absolutely unpretentious. It is important to plant the plant correctly, only sometimes adjust it, and you can admire the look of your flower garden for years.

The daylily bush, 60 cm high, is formed by long feathery leaves that can be straight or curved in an arc. Above them rises a stem with large flowers collected in spreading inflorescences. The daylily begins to bloom at the end of April. The culture remains decorative for a long time, since there are from 30 to 60 buds on each stem, which gradually bloom one after another.

If the place is well lit, flowering will last until the end of August. Even without flowers, the daylily will look decent thanks to the foliage. To make the flower arrangement look harmonious, the daylily should be planted in the center of the flower bed and take the following varieties that match in color:

  • English lavender;
  • ICICLES and others.

Geichera

The incredibly beautiful Heuchera will certainly become the highlight of every flower garden. She is, of course, famous for its leaves, which can be almost black, bright red, purple, lemon, deep purple, emerald and silver. They can be smooth, crimped, or curly. The rosette of heuchera leaves is located 50 cm from the ground. Paniculate inflorescences consist of small flowers of red, white, pink and even green colors. The flowering culture continues almost all summer, but foliage is able to decorate a flower bed from early spring to the first frost. Ornamental culture is great for the foreground of a flower garden.

Geranium is magnificent

It is a very effective and beautiful plant that does not require any special care. It can grow in one place for up to 15 years. The size of the flowers is about 3 cm. They can be crimson, blue, purple or white. Each flower has 5 large rounded petals.

If it was not possible to find gorgeous geraniums in stores, then it can be replaced with royal pelargonium, while choosing a suitable color.
