Good afternoon, my reader. The garden bed is a kind of vegetable house. To make them cozy and comfortable, it is necessary to organize it correctly.

There are several types of beds:
- flush with the ground;
- raised (due to good plowing);
- high (specially made).
The last two are the most common. If everything is clear with a raised one - a special cultivator or just a shovel will come to the rescue, then a high bed must be specially built.
Now in garden centers on sale there are already ready-made plastic boxes for arranging high beds. You can use them too. If the owner of the site has a little free time, building materials and a great desire to collect a good harvest in the fall, it will not be difficult to make it.
Stages of work
- Choose an area for the garden, apply the markings. Remember that the long side of the future ridge must face south.
- Remove the top layer of soil and set it aside - it can come in handy later, become the top layer of the garden or go to form a soil mixture.
- Make a box. For him, building boards or logs, bricks, slate or blocks are suitable. If the box is wooden, treat it with a special solution against mold and decay. Place bricks or blocks tightly so that there are no gaps. Bonding cement can be used if desired. The inside can be secured with small iron pins for stability.
- Cover the inside of the box with waterproof material: film, oilcloth or roofing felt. This will allow your garden to retain moisture for a long time.
- Cover the bottom with a net, this will be a good protection from rodents.
The basis for the garden is ready, you can proceed to filling it
- At the bottom we put the remains of vegetation, leaves, sawdust, wood shavings or branches, even cut cardboard will do.
- Then a small layer of earth.
- A layer of rotted compost, you can add food waste.
- There is a good layer of fertile soil on top (add the top layer of soil that was lying to the side).
- The resulting bed must be well shed with water with the addition of "Fitosporin". This will help rid the new garden of diseases and pests.
A high bed has many advantages
- Due to the elevation, the yield increases.
- Due to the "flakiness", plants take those nutrients that they need.
- The density of the ridge walls provides good moisture exchange and creates a greenhouse effect.
- It is convenient to engage in soil cultivation and weeding.
- Tall beds look well-groomed and beautiful on any site.
Compliance with all the rules for building a high bed, proper care for it and maintaining a good soil composition will allow you to always remain with a good harvest!
