Can an ordinary person, walking along the coast, see with his own eyes a submarine abandoned to the mercy of fate? Perhaps, but not always. Especially if this is not an ordinary ship that plowed the sea during the fighting. But each rule has its exceptions, and this is one such case.
It is such a submarine that can be seen near Coney Island. It has been standing in the same place for about forty to fifty years. It looks quite ordinary, but it has its own differences. The non-standard of the vessel lies in the purpose of its creation. That is, it was not built for traditional use.
Its creator was one of the employees of a local shipbuilding company named Jerry Bianco in 1967. He dreamed on this boat to go down to the bottom, to the place where "Andrea Doria", a cruise ship, sank, and to get jewelry from there. All consumables that only he could find were used for the construction. He took out something from the shipyard, and made other elements from the collected scrap metal, which could then be found nearby.

The resulting design really looked like a submarine in appearance. It seems that the work was carried out as expected, but Bianco was in for an unpleasant surprise. During launching with a crane, the structure got stuck in debris and silt. Unfortunately, no matter how hard they tried, they could not move the ship. First, there was not enough money for this. Secondly, the idea has simply outlived its usefulness.

The submarine remained in the middle of the bay and lay there for all these decades. Initially, the ship was painted with yellow paint, but today, of course, almost nothing is left of it. Almost the entire surface is covered with rust.
