Power grids have recently begun to carry electricity meters to poles. Why are they doing that? The workers themselves argue that now they can easily get to the meter to check its condition and record the current readings. Indeed, you do not need to climb the pole - everything is available.

Private sector residents protest over smart meters. Will they listen to them, or will it be as usual ???

Modern meters, in addition to their main work, are also able to transmit readings remotely. Thanks to this, the life of controllers has been simplified several times.

This is how the official version sounds. But I (and you, I think, too) doubted the veracity of these words. Most likely, the networkers decided to put the electricity meters on the poles to prevent residents from stealing electricity.

It is no secret that there are quite a few ways to illegally "save" electricity, and most are well aware of them. Therefore, the networkers decided to take this problem under their strict control. And they chose a radical method for this: they replaced private meters with devices to which the users themselves do not have access.

How big is the error of such counters? There is an opinion that the removal of the device to a street pole does not comply with the rules for installing electrical appliances.

The official documents say that metering devices should be in dry rooms, the temperature in which does not fall below 0 and does not rise above +40 degrees. On the street, the meter is exposed to unsuitable temperatures and climatic conditions: snow, rain, hail, etc.

Even if you hide the device behind a sealed shield, it will not be fully protected. Condensation will get on the meter, too low and high temperatures will negatively affect its operation.

When the meter has to work at sub-zero temperatures, it begins to distort the readings, and users lose a lot from this. The rules say that devices can be installed outdoors only in special heated cabinets. However, can you imagine that this will be implemented in today's environment? So I can't! In what small Russian village would they risk putting such a cabinet?

Unfortunately, power grid workers care little about the opinion of the common people. They carry the meters to the street poles without asking the opinion of local residents.

Some owners of private houses try to protest, write lengthy complaints, defend their rights, but all to no avail. They declare that the meters installed on the poles incorrectly calculate the power consumption, overestimate the indicators, and accordingly, the amounts in the receipts are growing. Moreover, each private trader must have a remote control that would allow controlling the operation of the device. In fact, such consoles are not given to anyone.

And it seems like the truth is on the side of private traders, but monopolists still win. It turns out that the inhabitants are playing Don Quixote and are trying to defeat the invincible evil. The number of poles counters is growing regularly, and complaints remain unheard.
