TV: changes in the air

  • Mar 03, 2021

Once a year I scan the Moscow TV air and find out what is now broadcasting from the Ostankino tower. Today, 7.2.2021, it was discovered that compared to January 2020, there are many changes.

TV: changes in the air

All collective antennas have long been dismantled in Moscow. All houses have only pay cable TV for 245 rubles a month, which are included in a single payment document (UPC) for utilities. The confusion arises from the fact that in the ENP cable television is still called "Antenna".

In most districts of Moscow, the cable TV operator is Rostelecom (50 analog and 50 digital channels), in some areas in the south of the city the cable TV operator is Akado.

But you don't have to pay for watching TV: TV broadcasting continues from the Ostankino tower, the signal can be received on an individual antenna.

On April 15, 2019, analogue television broadcasting was to be completely turned off in Russia, but this has not happened until now. Today, three decimeter analogue channels were found on the air: "Che!" 23 channel (490 Mhz), "Disney" 29 channel (538 Mhz), "Saturday!" Channel 60 (786 Mhz).

A year ago, there was one meter analog channel and five decimeter (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/1114577.htm ).

Today, in addition to these three analogue channels, there are 40 digital and three digital radio channels on the air.

Digital channels are transmitted in multiplexes - ten digital channels are transmitted on one frequency of the former UHF analog channel.

A year ago, there were three multiplexes and there were thirty digital channels.

The main update is the fourth multiplex broadcasting in FullHD. The channels are exactly the same as in the first multiplex:

200 First channel HD
201 Russia 1 HD
202 Match HD
203 NTV HD
204 Fifth channel SD
205 Russia-K HD
206 Russia-24 SD
207 Carousel HD
208 ORT HD
209 TV Center HD

Two channels - Fifth and Russia-24 are broadcast in SD, probably they simply do not have an HD picture.

The first two multiplexes are unchanged:

1 Channel One
2 Russia 1
3 Match
4 NTV
5 Channel 5
6 Russia-K
7 Russia-24
8 Carousel
9 ORT
10 TV Center

11 Ren TV
12 Spas
13 STS
14 Home
15 TV-3
16 Friday
17 Star
18 World
19 TNT
20 MUZ-TV

The third multiplex was initially launched not for viewers, but to circumvent the law on advertising - each of its channels broadcast up to 12 TV channels alternately in order for the channels to be considered "on-air" (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/582351.html ).

Now the situation has changed a bit. Three channels of this multiplex have become full-fledged:

21 Saturday!
29 Izvestia (other channels broadcast at night)
30 Match! the country

On the other channels, there is such a zoo (picture from the site Telepedia )

The picture has not yet had time to update channel 21 - from February 1, the channel "Super!" turned into the channel "Saturday!"

In order to watch free digital TV, you need a TV with support for the DVB-T2 standard (all modern TVs support this format) or a DVB-T2 set-top box (from 1000 rubles) connected to the old TV. You will also need an individual antenna. Digital television is less critical to the quality of the antenna, so even a simple indoor UHF antenna will do and the odds there is a successful signal capture even if the windows overlook the wrong side where Ostankinskaya is located tower. An excellent homemade antenna can be made from two beer cans and a hanger .

It's good that HD broadcasting has finally appeared on the air. It is sad and surprising that the main Moscow TV channel Moscow24 is still missing on the Moscow air.
