Why can the DNaT-400 not turn on?

  • Mar 03, 2021

This is exactly what the title of the question from the reader Alexei sounded like.

I continue to publish the questions that readers asked me. For new dear readers who came to my channel for the first time, I inform you that this is already 26 such publication. You can familiarize yourself with some other questions and answers to them by clicking on the links at the bottom of this article.

The text of the question from Alexei itself was quite simple and sounded like this:

Hello. There is a DNaT-400 that has recently stopped turning on, Could this be due to low voltage in the network? Please help me how to solve this problem. Thank you in advance!

I gave the following answer to this question:

Good day!

Yes, as an option, it is possible that the voltage level in the final electrical circuit is not enough, but I would like to know more detailed details. The lamp does not light up at all or the warm-up time lasts longer than usual, are there any lighting effects at the moment of switching on, or does the lamp not even flicker?

In addition to such a possible reason as undervoltage in the final electrical, the lamp should be checked for the following faults:

  • Defective IZU - due to the natural wear of the elements or with frequent switching without delaying the interval between switching on, the ignition device may fail. Replacing with a new one can completely solve the problem, but you need to select a similar one.
  • Burnt out cartridge - Many connection points in discharge lamps suffer from the increased voltage applied to the lamp. Therefore, the cartridges may not withstand the electrical load and simply burn out. To eliminate the malfunction, replace the cartridge with a new one.
  • Connecting wires - also burn out in the section from the IZU to the lamp due to high voltage and the load applied to them. Such a malfunction can be determined even by visual inspection.

The lamp itself is burnt out - checked by visual inspection or by replacement with a similar serviceable one.
