  1. If the growing season in your area starts early, then you should choose early varieties of radish for sowing. Consider the varieties of this vegetable that yield in less than a month after sowing:
  • 18 Days - the crop can be harvested 18-20 days after sowing the seeds;
  • The varieties Zhara and Zarya will delight you with vitamins in 20-27 days;
  • French breakfast, Resident and Estuary ripen on days 21-25;
  • Alba, Early Red, Rose Red ready to harvest in 26-32 days.
  1. To enjoy the vitamin harvest longer, it is recommended to plant several varieties with different ripening periods. By planting early, mid and late, you will harvest from late spring to mid-June.

  2. In the climatic conditions of the middle lane, it is better to sow radishes in greenhouses, greenhouses or under film. Such conditions will make it possible to harvest the first harvest in mid-May.

    To get a harvest faster with greenhouse cultivation, it is worth taking note of some tips:
  • sowing radishes should be as soon as the soil thaws. The beds must be prepared in the fall: dig up, form;
  • seeds should be germinated before planting. The seed is soaked in a little warm water and left to swell. Water that has not been absorbed by the seeds must be drained. Leave the grains warm until sprouts about 1 mm in size appear. The hatched seeds are mixed with sand and dry humus in a ratio of 1 to 5 (1 part of seeds to 5 parts of sand mixed with humus). This trick will keep the seeds from sticking together and make the sowing process easier. It is necessary to plant in the ground at intervals of 3-4 cm;
  • boiling water will need to warm up the soil when planting. Pour boiling water along the length of the furrow, quickly place seeds in it, sprinkle with earth and cover with insulation (film) to keep warm. All beds are sown in this way;
  • to protect the seeds from pathogenic bacteria and fungi, after sowing the radish, the beds should be watered with a warm solution of potassium permanganate (the color of the solution is pink);
  • the film cover should be made low and the edges of the film should be well sprinkled with earth. To protect the greenhouse from the wind, you can throw a nylon or fishing net over the film and fix it securely. Such a greenhouse does not require additional heating. In case of frost, cover it with garden insulation.

  1. If sowing is carried out in an unheated greenhouse, then it is worth remembering some recommendations:
  • select high-quality seed;
  • observe an interval of 3-4 cm when planting, if the variety is large-fruited, then the distance must be increased to 4-5 cm;
  • sow seeds to a depth of no more than 1 cm so that the plants sprout together and evenly;
  • ensure timely sufficient watering.
  1. It is necessary to sow radishes in the greenhouse so that the harvest is ripe by the time of planting tomatoes or cucumbers. They are planted in the space vacated after the radish.
To harvest longer, you can sow the radish beds in a wave-like manner. Only part of the crop area should be sown. As soon as the seedlings have 2 true leaves, you can send the next batch into the ground.
