The ways

  1. Among gardeners, soda ash solution is very popular in the treatment of gooseberries. It is very simple to prepare it: dilute 50 g of soda and soap in a bucket of water. The bushes are sprayed during the flowering period or immediately after the detection of the disease. Process three times with a break of 1.5 weeks.
  2. Gardeners also use infusion from rotted manure. To do this, you need to take three parts of the liquid for one part of the raw material. The finished solution should be infused for three days. Before starting treatment, dilute the composition with water in a ratio of 1: 2, strain, and then spray on diseased shrubs. The bacteria in the manure do an excellent job with powdery mildew. Spray the plants at the end of the gooseberry collection.

  3. Another means of fighting the disease is wood ash. To prepare the solution, take 10 liters of water and 1 kg of ash. Put the sifted ash in warm water and mix the composition. To prevent the resulting solution from rolling off the leaves, add grated laundry soap to it. The liquid should be infused for several days, spray the bushes three times every other day. You can also apply the composition to the ground near the trunks, mixing well with the soil.
  4. Try to make the following composition, consisting of one liter of whey, 10 liters of water and twenty drops of iodine. Spray the gooseberry with the solution every ten days throughout the season.
  5. Tomato tops also help fight fungal diseases. Prepare an infusion from it by adding grated soap, and you can start processing.
  6. If the disease has strongly affected the shrub, then the gooseberry should be sprayed with fungicides. You can use Topaz, Fitosporin, Oxyhom. Carry out processing in the evening. Try to spray the preparation on the top and bottom of the leaves.

Preventive measures

To prevent the disease from ever visiting your site, follow some simple rules:

  • Plant gooseberries at a distance of at least one and a half meters from each other, the site should be well warmed up by the sun.
  • Watch the density of the crown.
  • Make sure that the shoots do not touch the ground.
  • With an excess of nitrogen fertilizers, the risk of disease is increased; potash and phosphorus fertilizers are better suited for treatments.
  • In the fall, remove fallen leaves, trim off damaged branches, and burn all debris.
  • Spray the plant with a solution of zircon, this will increase the immunity of the culture.
  • In the spring, before bud break, pour boiled water over the bushes.
With these simple steps, you can help the gooseberries get rid of their powdery mildew.
