It is necessary to think about whether the pepper will grow in the garden this season in February-March. It is during this period that seeds are sown for seedlings.

Preparing planting material

Pepper seeds have a thick skin. Therefore, they must be soaked before planting. First, we will screen out the weak. Put the seeds from the bag into salted water, mix well and let the water settle. The strong will be at the bottom, and the weak will float to the surface. We'll need the first ones. Then we do the following:

  • pour warm water at room temperature into a small container and soak the grains in it for 20-25 minutes;
  • carefully drain the water through cheesecloth, and leave the seeds on the fabric, wrap and put in the refrigerator for 2 hours;
  • dilute a growth stimulant (for example, "Epin") in water according to the instructions, soak the grains in it again for 20 minutes;
  • put the seeds on a napkin and let them dry so that they do not stick to each other:
  • start sowing.

The soil

Pay close attention to the soil in which the seedlings will grow. It can be a universal primer or one that you prepared in advance. In any case, you can mix it with wood ash, add some eggshells there. This will be additional food for plantings.

To avoid the presence of pathogens, spill it with hot manganese solution before sowing. Make small trenches and place the seeds in them at a distance of 3-5 cm from each other. Cover crops with foil and place in a warm place. You will see the first shoots in a week.

Top dressing

Young shoots are fed 5-7 days before picking, in the phase of appearance of 1-2 true leaves. Complex preparations such as "Kemira", "Agricola" and others are used. Follow the instructions. You can take other mineral fertilizers designed specifically for bell peppers.

2 weeks before the intended transfer of seedlings to a permanent place, the peppers must be fed again. It can be fertilizers with a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium complex and essential microelements.

Seedlings take root in the ground for about 2 weeks. In a greenhouse, this process is faster.

When the peppers grow, you need to feed them with fertilizers with a high content of potassium and phosphorus. Wood ash is rich in these very trace elements. It can be applied both dry before watering, and as part of the prepared solution. Pour boiling water over the ash, let it settle, strain and water it once a week until the fruits form.
