Seat selection

The selection of a place in the garden depends on the preferences of the plants:

  • Photophilous. They are not afraid of direct sunlight, so they are placed in an open space.
  • Shade resistant. Sick in bright light and prefer shade or partial shade. They are planted next to densely crowned trees.
  • With low resistance to drafts and strong gusts of wind. They will feel comfortable next to a solid wall or fence.

Flower bed formation

In the chosen place, gardeners form flower beds. Sometimes whole compositions and drawings are made of flowers. This requires:

  1. Cut several 1.5 L plastic bottles into rings 5 cm high.
  2. Place them in a pattern.
  3. Deepen 1 cm into the soil.
  4. Plant one type of plant inside each ring.
  5. Sprinkle with sifted earth.
  6. Drizzle lightly.

For plants with high resistance to cold, bottles of at least 2 liters are taken.

For those who are thermophilic - less. After planting the seeds in the ground, they are covered with half of the container before the seedlings appear.

Correct selection of colors

The choice of plants and their shades depends on what effect is to be achieved. For example, flower beds with roses look solemn. Entrance arches, gazebos, and recreation areas are decorated with these beauties.

With the help of bright sunny marigolds, they create not only colorful flower beds, but also borders along the paths. In flower beds, they are combined with nasturtiums and forget-me-nots. The yellow shade of flowers looks good with calm blues, blues, and greens. These are irises, phlox, titonia and dahlias.

Monochrome compositions look stylish at their summer cottage. For them, flowers are chosen that are close in gamut. Most often these are:

  • phlox;
  • pansies;
  • hosts.

Irises, complemented by cereals, look spectacular in such a composition. Or in combination with badan.

Contrasting combinations are also common. With the help of them, large flower beds with clear boundaries are created, drawings and geometric shapes are organized.

Popular combinations:

  • Delicate pink or white geranium and hosta (or red multicolor).
  • Roses and tall grains.
  • Irises of blue and white flowers and a bright oriental poppy.
  • Peonies and lilies with irises.

A flower bed with plants of similar shades. It is based on 5 shades located side by side in the color wheel, and white as a transitional element.

Most popular plants

To form a flower bed, the following flowers are most often used:

  1. Geranium. They are planted both in flower beds and in mixborders. Combines with decorative bow, hosta, yarrow, cinquefoil, cuff. Geranium grows rapidly, filling the maximum space. There are many shades.
  2. Irises. Several colors are used in one planting at once. Looks good together with incense, lilies, lavender, phlox, daffodils.
  3. Lilies. They are planted in groups using several colors at once. They create multi-tiered plantings: low-growing varieties are taken as a basis (Asian), then an average height (Oriental). Peonies or roses are added to such compositions.
  4. Roses. Look spectacular in combination with Veronica, Clematis, Delphinium. Standard varieties are in harmony with lobelia, complemented by delicate phlox, lavender and decorative grains.

Basic rules for the formation of a flower garden

Experienced gardeners follow some rules:

  1. The combination of colors in shades, sizes and shapes.
  2. Planting plants of similar shades, but different in shape.
  3. Take into account the time of the appearance of flowers (this is especially important for a flower bed of continuous flowering).
  4. Height. The tall ones are planted in the center of the composition, the undersized ones form a border.
  5. Stocking density. More rare in the middle, along the edge - ground cover.
Adhering to these rules and color combinations, they create beautiful flower beds - a real decoration of the suburban area.
