Landing rules

Hydrangea is planted in late spring. Pre-prepare the landing pit:

  1. They are dug out with a size of 55x55 cm.
  2. Drained.
  3. Add the mullein bucket.
The plant prefers fertile soil with high acidity. If the indicator is less than 4, the preparation "Asid plus" is added to the soil.

Care

The rules for caring for a perennial are as follows.

Watering

Hydrangea loves moist soil. Requires abundant watering in summer. In dry weather - at least 2 times in 7 days. In a rainy day, one is enough.

Water consumption: 45 liters per adult bush.

Water is taken settled, soft, with a temperature of at least 24 o C.

Peat mulching will keep moisture in the soil for a long time.

Top dressing

For abundant and long-lasting flowering, the plant needs a large amount of nutrients.

Top dressing is carried out according to the following schemes (per 1 m 2):

  1. In the spring during the period of active growth: 20 g of urea, 30 g of sulfuric potassium, 35 g of superphosphate.
  2. During budding: 75 g of superphosphate and 40 g of potassium sulphide.
  3. At the end of August: 18 kg of compost or manure under each bush.

During flowering, additional phosphorus and potassium are added. Ammophoska is best suited.

Infusions are also used. Weekly cow dung is mixed with chicken manure in a ratio of 10: 1.

Sometimes dairy or yeast based solutions are used to supplement root nutrition.

Pruning

In order for the hydrangea bush to bloom and have a well-groomed appearance, it is periodically pruned. The plant forms an inflorescence only on young shoots.

The following trims are carried out:

  1. Sanitary. Remove dry, broken branches.
  2. Anti-aging. Every 4 years, all shoots are removed, replacing skeletal shoots with younger ones.
  3. To form a bush. 7 strong shoots are left, cutting them into 3 buds.

During spring pruning, only the healthiest last year's are left on the skeletal shoots. To form beautiful inflorescences, pruning is carried out before the buds open.

Autumn - after the wilting of all flowers.

Protection against diseases and pests

Most hydrangea varieties are highly resistant to diseases and pests. But preventive measures are not neglected:

  1. In the spring, from infectious diseases, the bush and the ground under it are disinfected with iron vitriol and Bordeaux liquid.
  2. Rovral Flo fungicide is used against gray rot.
  3. Solutions with iron content are reliably protected from chlorosis.
  4. From septoria - contact fungicide "Profit Gold".
  5. When the first signs of rust are found on the leaf plates, the hydrangea is treated with the preparations "Falcon" and "Topaz", which include copper.
  6. From the attacks of aphids and ticks use "Fufanon".

As soon as the first signs of the disease were found on the leaves or shoots of the hydrangea, they are removed and burned. The bush is treated with a disinfectant.

How to prepare hydrangea for winter

Among the varieties of this plant, there are species with high resistance to low temperatures. These include paniculate and treelike.

Preparation for winter is carried out as follows:

  1. Watering is stopped in September.
  2. The lower leaves are pruned.
  3. Autumn pruning is carried out.
  4. The bush is huddled high.

Young seedlings and large-leaved varieties are reliably covered for the winter. For this, the shoots are bent to the ground and fixed. Then they put boards, agrofibre and cover with dry leaves or spruce branches.

Another way is to tie the branches with rope, wrap them with ultrafiber or spunbond. Outside, build a wire frame 20 cm higher than the plant and cover it with leaves or sawdust.

If the winter is warm, the bush can turn into a hot spot and mold is found on it in the spring. In this case, wipe it with a dry cloth.

The complexity of hydrangea care depends on the choice of variety and climatic conditions. Subject to all the rules of agricultural technology, a magnificent beauty, pleasing to the eye, is obtained.
