The interiors from the 2000s are hopelessly outdated. Their principle was based on a wide range of different active patterns, textures and shapes: glossy ceilings, voluminous sofas with intricate silhouettes, curtains with garters and lambrequins, and so on.
In order to modernize such an interior, it is necessary to "calm down" it. As much as there is enough effort, time and budget. Designer Nika Dyuzheva told how to do it, and indicated what should be paid attention first of all.
7. Ceilings
Very often, morally outdated interiors are given out precisely by the ceilings. We are talking about heavy structures, for example - waves, and too flashy coating - colored or glossy.
It is better to simply drag a stretch glossy ceiling onto a smooth matte one.
6. Light fixtures
Outdated interiors are also often full of accent lamps - each of them is like an art object. It is recommended to replace them with simpler and more concise options so that they dissolve in the general background, since the interior, most likely, is already oversaturated due to the abundance of forms, active drawings and gamut.
In addition, monotonous rows of spotlights used to be popular.
5. Walls
To noticeably refresh the interior, it is advisable to remove the drawings from the walls. Ornaments and patterns from the 2000s have long been outdated, moreover, before they were often selected according to a rather controversial principle - the brighter the better.
Now we have come to the conclusion that the walls, floor and ceiling should form a neutral background. It is not necessary to give up patterns altogether - you can choose stylish, concise options.
4. Forms
It is better to abandon elements of complex shapes, for example, wave-like, if we are not talking about an interior with elements of futurism. Often such things are found in pseudo-classical interiors from the 90s - round facades, waves on the ceiling or flooring, and so on.
Such details are too strange, so it is advisable to remove them so as not to overload the situation, or to leave such an element, but only one.
3. Wallpaper
Another sign of interiors from the 90s and 2000s is naturalistic wallpaper with a landscape, city panorama, or, for example, macro photography of flowers. You can keep the accent wall, but change the pattern itself.
It is better to choose stylized options - graphic or drawn images.
2. A rock
Ornamental stone can often be found in outdated interiors. Moreover, it is often laid out in the form of steps or slides, which makes it even more active and knockout.
If it is not possible to dismantle the stone, then simply paint it and the walls in the same color. This will remove the contrast and, due to this, calm down the general background a little.
1. Wall
Old walls are not only bulky in themselves, but most often have a very complex shape. If possible, it is better to purchase simpler and more concise cabinet furniture.
Otherwise, you can at least calm down the details of your wall - replace the handles with more minimalistic options.
