And if we are talking about the most distant and inaccessible engineering structures, surrounded by endless seas or oceans, then even more so. The Icelandic Tridrangar lighthouse, located not just on a tiny island among the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and on top of a cliff, which makes it practically unattainable.
One of the most inaccessible lighthouses on the planet is located off the coast of Iceland on the tiny island of Vestman, part of the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago (Westman Islands). Rather, it is located at the top of one of its highest rocks - Háidrangur. Despite the fact that in translation this basalt rock means "sharp" and if you look from some angles, then it is really so, but in fact, behind the peak hides a rather large plateau, on which in 1939 the Tridrangar lighthouse was built (Thridrangar Lighthouse).
It is difficult even to imagine how the builders delivered materials here and performed such grandiose work. According to eyewitnesses and participants in these events, climbers took an active part in the construction, who were the first to pave the way, secure chains and various devices for lifting people and goods.
For many years, an engineering structure located at a height of approximately 40 meters above the water level Atlantic Ocean, served by rangers who risked their lives to get by boat only to the foot of the cliff. And this is not to mention the fact that it was also necessary to climb the steep wall to its top.
Although for a modern person, the profession of a lighthouse keeper is becoming so attractive that few would refuse to go even for a while to a lonely island. And this is true, because no matter which side you look at, but this is an ideal place for solitude, and for this you can also receive a salary and be on the full satisfaction of the company.
Unfortunately, such dreams crash on inaccessible rocks, like waves surrounding lighthouses, because nowadays they are equipped with automatic control systems. Although sometimes there are brigades of engineers and construction workers here. The sent team gets the opportunity to go on a rather exciting and even extreme journey.
Considering that the flight can only be made in sunny and calm weather, which is very unlikely for this region, their adventures, combined with work, can drag on for several days. Despite such a delay, no one gets upset, but on the contrary, fully enjoys the incredible views and energy of this fantastic place.
