Good afternoon, my reader. It makes no sense to present raspberries as a garden berry, because it is almost a national symbol. But often garden plantings turn into impassable thickets, if you do not deal with them, but let everything take its course. And the plant itself with its thorns does not add pleasant sensations when picking berries. In order to somehow organize the landing and protect themselves from scratches, many resort to various tricks. We bring to your attention one of such methods of planting raspberries.

Growing raspberries

Since the roots of raspberries grow shallowly, at about 30 centimeters, and horizontally less than a meter, some plant bushes in car tires. They do not allow the root system to grow and give stepchildren, and the plantings themselves look neat, you can approach each bush without obstacles and calmly pick the berries. It is clear that tires can be taken used, they are easy to collect for free near tire shops. The second reason for using old tires is that they have little or no rubber odor.

The tire is dug into the ground about half the width of its tread. The inner part is filled with pre-prepared soil. The soil is clogged tightly so that there are no voids left inside the tire, and during frosts the root system was protected. The laid soil is watered abundantly, after which raspberry seedlings are planted in it.

Caring for raspberries in a tire

It should be noted that this planting method requires special care for the seedlings. Since the tire retains moisture well, watering the raspberries is often unnecessary. If there is no drought, natural precipitation is enough.

Also, the tires hold fertilizers well, so feeding the raspberries must be done very carefully. Once a season is enough. Since garden ants are often found in such closed places, pests must be carefully monitored and the soil must be cultivated so that they do not appear.

So that raspberries bear fruit well

Autumn care for raspberries planted in tires is that first of all the bushes are pruned, and in the soil nettle infusion is poured, which is harvested in advance in the form of a concentrate and, when watering, is diluted in proportion 1:8.

After pruning, the removed branches are not thrown away, but crushed and scattered in the form of mulch under the bush, when all fertilizers and top dressing have already been applied under it.

In mid-spring, as soon as the grass begins to appear, the plants, as in the fall, are fed with nettle infusion with the addition of urea.

Normal development of raspberries does not require further intervention. But if the plants for some reason turn out to be weakened or sick, those elements that they need at this stage are additionally introduced.

In the spring, you need to prune the branches from above by 10-15 centimeters and leave 3-5 strong branches in each bush. This is necessary in order to get a bountiful harvest of large berries. In order for the bushes to stand upright, stakes are driven into each of them, to which they are tied. If the tires are located on one straight line, the stakes are driven in at the beginning and at the end of the row, and a wire is stretched between them. Raspberry bushes are tied to this wire.
