After completing the construction of our own house, my wife and I thought about how it would be heated. Several options were considered - gas, electricity and centralized heating. We did not even think about heating with coal or other solid fuel, since it was necessary for the heating to work without our participation. As a result, it was decided that electricity would be used.
Why central heating is not always good.
Even during the construction, I knew that in relative proximity to the site there is a heating main, to which several houses of the street are connected. One of the neighbors refused this heating option on his own initiative, as he uses a pellet boiler. Moreover, the area of ββhis house is more than 270 sq. meters. At home, even in winter frosts, the temperature is comfortable and he does not experience any special problems.
Those who decide to stay with central heating often complain that the rooms are cool in winter, when At the same time, the payment for gas is a decent amount - more than 7 thousand rubles a month for a house with an area of ββ180 sq. meters. The optimum temperature is achieved using electric heaters.
We have a house of 120 square meters, and when using gas, we will need to spend up to 5 thousand rubles every month of the heating season. Compared to the electric heating option, it is somewhat cheaper. But there is one nuance - in order to keep tariffs for heat, private boiler houses were given subsidies from the city budget.
But they were canceled last year. This will lead to an increase in tariffs. So we decided to take our time and see what happens in the future. And if necessary, connecting central heating will not be difficult, since all technical approvals have already been completed.
Why we refuse gas heating.
The gas pipeline along our street was recently extended, and I am especially glad that it passes near my site. But to connect to it, you will have to pay a fairly substantial amount - about 280 thousand rubles.
When doing the calculations, we found out that in general it would be slightly cheaper to heat with gas than with electricity. However, the difference is insignificant and the cost of the initial connection was not taken into account. As a result, this option had to be abandoned.
As far as I know, in our town there is a possibility of connecting to gas for more than 1500 private houses. In fact, less than 200 of them are connected. And this is due to the fact that most families simply do not have the required amount of 280 thousand rubles.
When conducting electricity to the site, I had to pay only slightly more than 500 rubles of duty for 15 kW (3 phases). Meanwhile, a neighbor told me that just 8 years ago, for the same procedure, he laid out 70 thousand rubles in three phases. And only recently, after the adoption of the amendments, the amount was reduced up to 500 rubles.
So I decided to take my time and wait for a while. After all, it is quite likely that some pleasant changes may occur in the case of gas. Moreover, the executives understand that the already completed gas pipeline required large investments, and it will not pay off if people do not want to connect to it. And this will lead to the fact that in a few years it will simply become unusable if the system is not used.
Moreover, we do not have 280 thous. rubles. ))
