Good afternoon, my reader. Vegetable debris, which include tree branches, tops, fallen leaves, is not always convenient to take out and destroy outside the site. If you follow certain rules, then incineration of garbage on the site will not harm nature and neighbors.

Where and how to properly incinerate garbage on the site

In order not to provoke a fire while burning plant waste, it is required to equip a special place. Such a place will help to avoid the death of microorganisms in the soil and preserve the fertility of the site.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation strongly recommends incineration of waste in the following places:

  • a special pit with a diameter of at least 1 m and a minimum depth of 35 cm;
  • industrial waste incinerators;
  • ovens made of metal barrels, made with their own hands.

A pit used for burning garbage should be located at least 50 m from buildings of any purpose and 100 m from coniferous plantations. In the case of deciduous plantings, the distance is reduced to 30 m.

Around the pit, it is necessary to equip a strip of bare earth, and not far from it, during combustion, have available fire extinguishing means. After the destruction of the garbage, the pit is filled with water or covered with sand to avoid uncontrolled ignition.

The stove or a metal barrel replacing it is installed at a minimum distance of 25 m from buildings of any purpose, 30 m from coniferous plantations and 15 m from deciduous ones. All grass and other flammable materials must be destroyed around the stove. There should always be a steel or metal sheet near the barrel, which will easily block the access of oxygen to the fire, in case of emergency.

The design of the furnaces manufactured at the plant has a compartment for ash, which can be used as fertilizer in the future. Hand-made plant waste incinerators are made from the following materials:

  • bricks;
  • old refrigerator;
  • metal rings;
  • steel tank;
  • metal barrel.

Do-it-yourself metal barrel oven

You will need one metal barrel with a volume of at least 200 liters. Its transformation into an incinerator is possible in the following variants.

No bottom

The ends of the barrel are cut off, the lower part is drilled with a large number of holes (from 25 to 50), which will provide traction. The barrel is installed on a ditch, which acts as an air duct. It can be installed on bricks covered with a fine-mesh metal mesh.

Rubbish is placed in such an oven in small quantities.

Bottom (requires welding)

4 legs are welded to the bottom of the barrel, a grate at a height of 15 cm from the bottom, and handles to the walls on the sides. Holes are drilled in the bottom, and a blower is cut out at a distance of 5 cm above the grate. If you put it on the hinges, you can adjust the traction force by opening and closing the door. The incineration container must be equipped with a lid.

Gantry oven

A barrel with a height of 90 cm and a diameter of 60 cm is required.

The trestles are made of a steel profile, the grate is made of a steel bar. The barrel is placed horizontally on the trestle, the garbage is put into it through a special door located at the end. The lower part of the door is equipped with holes.

The pipe is installed on the side opposite to the door, avoiding gaps.

Useful Tips

Old barrels covered with rust will not last long. Their service life does not exceed 2 years. But you can increase the service life by applying the following tricks:

  • painting inside and outside with heat-resistant paint;
  • outside cladding with steel sheets;
  • installation of a metal liner inside the barrel.

Juicy tops burn very poorly; they are left to dry in the open air, providing protection from rain.

Children are not allowed near the stoves, an adult should not leave burning garbage unattended.

It is forbidden and very dangerous to incinerate garbage in windy weather or in severe drought.
