Good afternoon, my reader. Experienced gardeners use the old propagation method to cultivate new plants. It certainly has its pros and cons. In most cases, this method is in demand because of its simplicity and convenience: it does not require buy specialized equipment, and the culture does not undergo deformation and retains its original your kind.

Air layering

Without exception, all gardeners try to preserve fruit trees that yield a large amount of harvest. They use the air-lay method, which produces a young seedling.

Additional parts are formed by rooting the stems between other branches that form the crown of the plant. Gardeners begin this method from the second half of March, the time when the process of metabolism of nutrients begins to flow abundantly in the trunks of shrubs and trees.

Crops used for breeding:

  • all fruit trees;
  • indoor lemon;
  • currant;
  • grapes;
  • figs.
For example, for currant or grape bushes, the part of the stem that forms new shoots is equal to eight centimeters. The height of the seedling is equal to the distance between the point of origin of the root and the end of the desired branch.

For fruit trees, this distance is 50 cm. The roots are formed in a plastic container that is initially filled with a nutrient mixture. Then it is fixed on the branch of the tree, in the place where the rooting procedure will be carried out.

The container is made in a volume of two liters.

Further, the gardener is obliged to follow the procedure for the formation of new shoots. He also needs to take a plastic bottle, in the lower part of which, on the sides, make small cuts in the walls, and using an awl, make holes with a diameter equal to the size of the rooted part stem.

The bark of the tree is removed from the trunk between the first and second cuts. On the opposite side, it is necessary to make four more short cuts in the bark (their length should be at least 10 cm). Further, the branch is covered with a rag, which is pre-impregnated with a mixture with properties accelerating rooting.

On top of this, polyethylene is placed, which prevents bark drought. It must be placed exactly for a day, if necessary, in addition to basic actions, moisten with a specialized agent. When the film is removed, the bare area is specially treated with an anti-wound and damage agent. Further, the summer resident fixes the previously prepared container to the support, and so that the container cannot fall to the ground after it is filled with a mixture of nutrients.

Another breeding method is marsh moss.

Moss is used by experienced gardeners as another propagation method for plants such as orchids. At the same time, small branches of thuja or lilacs are taken for work.

The following aids are required:

  • moss;
  • wire;
  • tray;
  • black polyethylene;
  • trimmed shoots;
  • liquid without impurities;
  • means with properties accelerating the rooting process.

First, black polyethylene is taken, on which pre-moistened sphagnum (moss) is laid out. The thickness of the moss layer should vary between 3-4 cm. On the shoot, they tear off the lower part of the greenery, making an additional cut a couple of centimeters below the bud.

Further, the film with moss is rolled into a roll. If the sphagnum has time to dry, it doesn't matter, just moisten it with a spray bottle. Those shoots that turned out to be on the inside of the roll must be tied with wire or threads. The bundle is placed in the tray, at this stage you can also water the moss if necessary. At the same time, it will absorb moisture and prevent the shoots from drying out.

Lilac is bred using cuttings, on each of which only two leaves are left. At the same time, the lower reaches of the branch are treated with a special agent that will accelerate the growth process, then the shoots are placed on a polyethylene film and a roll is created.
