Good afternoon, my reader. Urea is an odorless fertilizer in the form of granules that dissolves easily in warm water. Urea is 46% urea and is most often used when there is a lack of nitrogen in the soil.

Feeding plants with urea, as a rule, brings positive results:

  1. A good result is brought by fertilizing from nitrogen. The nitrogen solution is safe for plant leaves, therefore, feeding can be carried out whenever necessary. After two days, the nitrogen concentration in the fed plants increases.
  2. To contain too early flowering, carbamide is used. This method is used when there are concerns about night frosts in early spring.
  3. It is used for the prevention of plant diseases, as well as for protection from pests.
  4. Increases the amount of the harvested crop.
However, it is important to remember about the possible negative effect of urea on plants. When urea enters the ground, a chemical reaction occurs in which enzymes and bacteria interact, resulting in the release of gaseous ammonia. Also, at too high dosages, fertilization can reduce the number of seedlings.

If gardeners do not place urea directly into the ground, the product does not have the desired effect on plant growth and development. In addition, some of the substance simply disappears. If there is a neutral or alkaline soil on the site, some of the urea will also not be absorbed. To obtain the desired result from top dressing, you need to place the fertilizer 5 cm into the soil.

How to feed

  1. It is not recommended to place urea crystals in the soil when the plants are in bloom, so as not to reduce the yield. This top dressing is aimed at the development of growth, so the introduction of fertilizer during the growth of green mass will be ideal.
  2. Do not feed with urea in the fall. During this period, the processes of decomposition of microorganisms occur, respectively, ammonium will simply be destroyed. You can use urea in autumn only in the case of sandy soil on the site and in the presence of cold weather.
  3. It is better to feed perennial plants in spring, filling furrows or holes with fertilizer. From above, the fertilizer is covered with a layer of earth so that it does not interact with seedlings or seeds. Do not feed with urea in the fall.
  4. In order to minimize the effect of ammonia gas on plants, it is better to feed it two weeks before the start of planting. A completely negative effect cannot be avoided if you use fertilizers with potassium at the same time.
  5. Urea is not used simultaneously with the following fertilizers: chalk, lime, dolomite flour, superphosphate.
  6. When using organic fertilizers, the amount of urea must be reduced by 1/3.
  7. You can use the root addition of urea when the ovaries begin to shed or the leaves change to a pale green color.
  8. If you plan to spray plants, prepare a solution of 5-10 g of urea per 1 liter of water. The spraying procedure is recommended to be carried out in non-sunny weather, preferably in the evening.
  9. Top dressing of vegetable crops can be done during the entire growing season. To do this, it is necessary to prepare a solution of 50 g of carbamide diluted in 10 liters of water.
  10. For feeding fruit and berry crops, a solution is prepared from 20 g of carbamide per 10 liters of water.
  11. When spraying indoor plants, a solution is prepared from 10 liters of water and 50 g of carbamide.
