Most people in the republics of the former Soviet Union should still remember this well. a wonderful comedy film by Leonid Iovich Gaidai, like “Prisoner of the Caucasus, or New Adventures Shurik ". Not everyone, when watching the film, should pay attention to the fact that the car of the Experienced, Coward and Dunce flaunts a very amusing license plate: 91-63 South Africa. What does it mean?

Leonid Gaidai was an unquestionably talented director. Few people know, however, Gaidai, like his Hollywood colleagues, loved to do various funny things in films, which today we are used to calling "Easter eggs". And the car in the film "Prisoner of the Caucasus, or Shurik's New Adventures", which drove a trinity of antagonists, was not the most ordinary one. His number was even less common. However, in this particular case it was not Leonid Iovich himself who was "guilty", but Yuri Nikulin.

The fact is that during the filming Gaidai wanted Coward, Goonies and Experienced to drive some kind of bright car. And there was one, and in Nikulin's garage! It was the personal car of the popular favorite that became one of the dumb heroes of the comedy tape. As you might guess, no one specifically changed the license plate. Knowing all of the above, it will not be difficult for knowledgeable people to decipher the inscription "South Africa".

Of course, 91-63 South Africa is not South Africa at all, as one might think. The letter "U" was assigned to vehicles registered in the Moscow region. It was there that Yuri Nikulin lived. The letter "A" was given to those cars that were registered in 1960. Finally, the letter "R" indicated that the car was the private property of a citizen.

Thus, recalling one of the episodes of the film, we can say with confidence that Dzhabrail fulfilled Saakhov's instructions by all 120%! The Kunaks selected for the abduction were not at all "from our area," but from the Moscow region.
