Hi friends, I work as a plumber. And you are on the "Timofey Mikhailov" channel, in today's article I will tell you what the uncontrolled water consumption led to during the "Soviets".

At the moment, the consumption of water in apartments and private houses without a registered meter is a "robbery". Inflated tariffs for one person, leads to the fact that you want, you do not want to have to put water meters. And once having installed them, the process of saving begins. Once again, you won't pour water and you won't take a bath.

And how was it in the era of lack of water meters?

Let's move to the mid-80s. years. In those days, no one ever thought about the fact that pouring DRINKING water into the sewer unnecessarily was waste. There were even posters reminding people that water should be conserved.

  • Housewives could turn on the tap with water and walk around their households, dusting or washing the floors. Rinsing rags under running water.

  • Toilet cistern leaking? Pfft, let it flow. Until the pressure of the water becomes loud and nerve-racking. Only then was the plumber called.
  • Daily shower or bath filling for water procedures did not cause any anguish associated with saving this resource.

Soviet people did not save water, used this benefit without borders, spending it at their own pleasure.

What did this lead to?

  • The equipment supplying water to the apartments of Soviet people, namely borehole, water-lifting pumps, were subject to rapid wear and tear, there was no need to talk about their durability. There were interruptions, accidents.
  • The power consumption for the operation of the pumps was overstated. The loads on the power supply network were high, which was reflected in the reliability for the worse.
  • Many kilometers of pipelines delivering life-giving moisture to our homes wore out and silted up faster due to the large volume of pumped liquid.
  • Wastewater treatment plants could not cope with the overestimated flows of liquid (sewage) during peak hours.

Uncontrolled water consumption led to rapid deterioration of the entire water utility.

What now?

Installing meters makes apartment owners more careful about this resource. Accordingly, water consumption has decreased. The load on the water utility network has become less, which is positively reflected in the costs of their maintenance.
