When we first renovated the bathroom, we decided that the old, bulky cast-iron bathtub would be replaced with a beautiful, modern, brand new shower.

We used the shower cabin in the apartment for 2 years. Awful experience, now we don't need it for free. I explain why

After 2 years, we have repeatedly regretted our decision! Today I decided to tell you in detail and talk about the disadvantages of a shower cabin.

First, I want to touch on the issue of dismantling a cast-iron bath. It was walled up "conscientiously", it took a lot of effort, time and my nerves to unfasten it and move it from its place.

I don’t want to remember how we pulled her out of the apartment. I almost "lay down on the bones" under this cast-iron work of art and even tore several ligaments. But we are talking about something else.

When the tiles in the bathroom were neatly laid, we proceeded to install the shower stall. I, as a true man, decided to do everything myself, so I spent a couple of days. After assembling and connecting the cab, we started trial operation.

Turning on the water, I found that it was pouring not only from the mixer, but from all the cracks. I just forgot to coat the seams with sealant. Correcting the mistake, I wasted 2 tubes of sealant and lost a few more days of time.

I had to come to terms with the losses. Three days later, we decided to test the booth again. This time the water pressure was several times weaker than it should be. The problem turned out to be too narrow mixer holes. It was impossible to swim calmly, as it was necessary to adjust to the changing temperature. It is almost impossible to establish comfortable indicators.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg!

  • My wife could easily fit in a booth, but for me, with my weight of 90 kg, it was cramped inside.
  • Drops of water remaining on the glass of the booth after washing left a plaque. You can get rid of it, but not for long - before the next water procedures.
  • The door rollers were the first to break down - this happened after 7 months of cab operation.
  • I also want to say about the instability of the entire structure. The shower cubicle cannot be compared to a cast-iron bathtub. You have to put up with the fact that it dangles slightly, no matter how you align it.
How could all these problems have been avoided? I think it was just a matter of refurbishing the cast iron bathtub. This can be done with acrylic, marble or acrylic insert.

Wish I had thought of this 2 years ago.
