Used plastic canisters from under various liquids always find new use in the household. The most popular way to reuse is as a container for watering or as a material for cutting boxes for various little things. However, advanced wizards have come up with more interesting usage ideas. In the Novate.ru review, there are three functional crafts that will be of practical use and do not require a lot of time and money to make.
1. Portable organizer case for small things
From canisters with a volume of 10-20 liters, you can make a nice case for storing various small items. These can be toys in the country, small tools in the garage, fasteners in the workshop, equipment for fishing and much more - the craft is universal and its use is limited only by the size of the original container.
To make the organizer, you will need two cans of the same size. The front part of one of the containers is cut out, leaving a rectangular opening - this will be the body of the craft. The second canister is marked with straight lines and cut into several parts - they will serve as the sides of the internal containers. From plywood or chipboard, cut out blanks for the bottom of the boxes, as well as shelves (they will replace the supporting rails).
Now they start assembling the elements of the cabinet. The blanks for the bottom are connected to the sides made of plastic and fastened with self-tapping screws, and then a bracket or some other part that will serve as a handle is attached to the front of the boxes. For more convenient storage, the inside of the drawer can be divided into compartments with a built-in partition.
Shelves are inserted into the body of the crafts and screwed to the walls with fasteners. Then the drawers are pushed inside - and everything, a homemade cabinet, is ready. As you can see, it is not difficult to make it, but you get a practical container for storing various little things with a convenient carrying handle. If desired, the craft can be painted to give it a prettier appearance. And if there are a lot of unnecessary canisters, then you don't have to make boxes by cutting out the bottom from plywood, but simply cut off the lower part of the products.
2. Carrying extension
You cannot do without an extension cord on the farm, but it is inconvenient to transport the bay and constantly unroll and roll the cable around the site. With regular use of an extension cord, it will be helpful to protect the cable and make winding easier by making a portable reel with a plastic canister body. The craft is not difficult, but it will be very useful in the household.
To begin with, on the sides of the plastic container - in the center of two opposite sides, two large holes are cut out of such a diameter so that a piece of PVC sewer pipe passes through. A hole is drilled in the canister lid for the extension cord. Then, the axis of the coil is prepared from a piece of sewer PVC pipe: a larger hole is drilled in the center - for the wire and two smaller ones on the sides - for fasteners. The end of the extension cord is brought into the canister through the hole in the lid, passed through the pipe and taken out through one of the ends. Another one is also passed through the axis - a separate piece of cable.
Two long screws are screwed into the end of the pipe, where the holes are drilled, and the coil handle is attached to them. A socket is assembled from the same end by connecting both wires. On the other side of the axis, a switch and a bulb holder are mounted. (Recall that when installing electrical devices, it is necessary to observe the PUE). Of course, you can make it easier and get by only with an extension cord, but such a craft, with the addition of a light source, is much more functional. You can not only unfold the extension cord, stretching it to a remote place of work, but also illuminate for a better view in low light conditions, for example, at dusk.
Useful advice from Novate.ru: Before proceeding with the craft, plastic cans must not only be well cleaned of the contents, but also degreased. Also, when carrying out work, it is advisable to carefully grind all the places of the cut by processing with sandpaper. This will make the craft safe to use, since all irregularities will be smoothed out and there will be no risk of accidentally getting hurt. In addition, the processed elements will be easier to dock during assembly.
3. Thermocase
Plastic canisters are quite durable - this is an almost ready-made frame for various suitcases, for example, a thermal bag. Such cases will always come in handy at least in the country, at least for going on picnics. The craft is done quickly and financially is absolutely not costly. All you need is heat-insulating material and some fittings.
To begin with, markings are made on the canister: they outline the cut line for the lid and mark the points for drilling for attaching the hinges and the lock. Then the top of the container is cut off completely.

Two blanks are cut out of a sheet of plywood along the contours of the separated part of the canister and a circle with a diameter slightly larger than the neck. This circle is glued to the inner end of the neck and after screwing the lid a small depression is formed in which, for example, a lighter or keys can be hidden. The bottom, lid and walls of the case are pasted over with foam sheets from the inside. Then, using hinges and fasteners, connect the cover to the body and hang the latch from the front. That's all, the compact thermal case for food is ready. If desired, the foam can be supplemented with a layer of foil-clad isolon, this will enhance the thermal insulation properties of the container.
