Galvanizing the body is far from absolute, but still one of the main and best measures to protect the car from the development of corrosive processes. It is zinc that is, in fact, one of the two main obstacles to the destructive effects of an aggressive external environment. It should be understood that galvanizing is done in different ways. The best methods by far remain hot and electroplated. All the rest are much less reliable, and therefore you should not be led by them as profitable, cheap offers.

And yet, sooner or later, even the best galvanized steel gives slack. This happens for one of two reasons. The first is a factory defect. The second is the age of the zinc coating. With the first reason, everything should be more or less clear. The essence of the second reason boils down to the fact that over time, the thinnest layer of zinc begins to flake off from metal, as a result of which voids are first formed, and then chips are right under the paintwork coated. In addition, zinc can be trivially stripped off the car body if the paintwork has been damaged earlier.

Swelling of the paint is just characteristic of those cases where zinc has peeled off from the metal over time. At first, the problem will be almost invisible, but after a year, the disaster can cover almost the entire body of the car. In such a situation, the motorist has a natural choice: save the car or sell it. It is necessary to clean the damaged areas, prime and paint them over again. At the same time, it is strongly not recommended to remove all factory paintwork, as this will only accelerate rust on the body. For spot repairs, it is best to cover the old coating with a layer of varnish. It will be absolutely useful to resort to artisanal galvanizing before painting. The easiest way is to implement the galvanic method with hydrochloric acid and a zinc case of a hydrochloric battery.
