Small carrot seeds are quite problematic to plant on a garden bed at a distance from each other. Seedlings have to be thinned out, and this is a waste of time and seed. Consider 7 ways to plant carrots that are guaranteed to provide a high yield.

Standard dry seeding
Dry seeds are carefully sown into the prepared grooves. The grooves are covered with earth and watered without fail. Without watering, the planting material will "sleep" in the soil until the first rain.
The nuances of this planting include the inability to adjust the amount of seeds that have fallen into the soil. A large amount will give too thick plantings, which are quite difficult to thin out. A small one may not ascend at all.
Sowing in wet soil
Practically no different from the first method. The only thing is that the seeds are sown in the grooves previously shed with water. After sprinkling the beds with earth, they are watered again. The soil must be kept moist until the first shoots appear.
Constant moisture allows the seeds to swell and germinate much faster than with the dry method.
Sowing "in a bag"
This method will provide quick and friendly shoots. In the garden, a hole is dug for one bayonet of a shovel, the seeds are placed in it, which are in a cloth bag. The seeds and the bag are well moistened with water in advance. The hole is covered with earth and an identification mark is installed next to it.
After 12 days, dig out a bag with swollen and "hatched" seeds, mix them with dry fine sand and sow on a garden bed. The earth is lightly raked with a rake and covered with foil. Seedlings appear in 5 days.
Sowing with sand
This method will help conserve carrot seeds and ensure that they are evenly distributed. 2 tbsp. l. seeds are mixed with a bucket of dry river sand, after which this mixture is sown into the prepared grooves.
ATTENTION! An important condition is the complete dryness of the sand. Wet sand will not allow the seeds to be distributed evenly.
Furrows are shed with water and raked in with a small layer of earth. The sand, in addition to the even distribution of seeds, provides looseness to the soil, which is so important for the active growth of carrots.
Mixed sowing
To apply this sowing, it is necessary to mix carrot and radish seeds (1: 1) with a small amount of river sand. Sow the resulting mixture into the grooves as in the first dry sowing method.
The advantage of this method is the rapid germination and maturation of radishes. After harvesting the radish for the growth of carrots, there is free space without thinning the seedlings.
Combined sowing
Combining carrot beds with onion beds will protect carrot seedlings from pests. The pungent onion smell scares away insects and makes it impossible to feast on carrots.
To provide reliable protection, the carrot and onion beds are simply rotated. You can use onion seeds, or you can use onion sets, this does not matter much.
In order to understand which method is preferable for you, you need to try them all in practice. To do this, you can test each of them annually, or you can combine several in one year, but on different beds.
