It is more pleasant to cope with any difficult task on your own - this rule also applies to growing seedlings. The result, however, does not always justify the effort expended - especially if the result is frayed nerves and the death of bushes. It is easier to buy seedlings of some plants in the store than to sow and go from scratch - this is exactly the kind of crops our article is devoted to.

Celery root
Planting small celery seeds is a pleasure. The grains do not have good germination, so even the appearance of sprouts is very, very difficult to achieve. And after the shoots still begin to break through from the ground, new problems begin. Gardeners find it especially difficult to pick celery - the fragile shoots of this capricious culture are very easy to damage with garden tools or even with bare hands. You can, of course, do without picking at all by planting celery seeds at great distances from each other. But such a procedure will require perseverance and attention, worthy of a better application.
And celery is also very strict with regard to temperature conditions, lighting conditions and irrigation techniques. Its seedlings should not be watered at the root - if you nevertheless decide to start growing it, instead of a watering can you will have to arm yourself with a spray bottle. Celery seedlings need to be constantly ventilated and fed with complex fertilizers in a timely manner.
Garden strawberry (strawberry)
Gardeners who intend to take up the cultivation of strawberries will have to thoroughly prepare before sowing seeds for seedlings. This culture should be grown in transparent containers, and each bush needs to take its own own pot - strawberries do not tolerate picks, and therefore do not place in one large planting box worth it. The plant also has its own requirements for the composition of the soil - only sandy or light sandy loam soils containing no more than 3% humus are suitable for garden strawberries.
Strawberry seeds have to be buried with a toothpick. During the sowing process, care should be taken that the seeds are not too deep - otherwise they simply will not hatch. Culture loves light and very rarely agrees to do with natural light alone - if you are going to grow garden strawberries at home, you will have to purchase several phytolamps.
Petunia
Only the most persistent will cope with sowing petunia seeds - these tiny grains have to be buried in the ground with tweezers or a toothpick. Seeds must be placed at a strictly defined depth, and after sowing, water the soil with water - only two or three extra drops can cause irreparable damage to the plantings.
But the real difficulties begin after sowing: petunia is a rather fragile and capricious plant, an excellent target for such a dangerous disease as black leg. When damaged by a black leg, the shoots begin to rot at the base and soon die. Excessive moisture contributes to the development of the disease, and therefore it is necessary to water the petunia with great care - experienced flower growers even advise using a syringe for watering.
Sooner or later, the seedlings have to dive. Petunia shoots rarely grow to large sizes, and therefore their picking becomes a separate headache.
Other nightshades
We forgot to mention that petunia belongs to the nightshade family, and therefore it can be considered a close relative of garden crops such as tomatoes, peppers and eggplants. Growing seedlings of these vegetables, like growing petunia seedlings, can become a real nightmare for a novice gardener.
Tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are very sensitive to weather conditions - even to a slight drop in temperature, capricious plants can respond by curling and drying out the leaves. It is especially hard for the inhabitants of the middle zone - the warm winter here does not always give way to the same warm spring, and the seedlings do not like sudden April frosts at all.
And the nightshade also needs a lot of light - these plants need to bask in the sun from 14 to 16 hours a day. Seedlings have to be surrounded by slender rows of phytolamps - and such devices can cost a lot. Indeed, it is more profitable to purchase ready-made seedlings than to bother with supplementary lighting of capricious plants.
