1. Use WD-40 to clean terminals
It should be remembered that the composition of WD-40 is a highly effective penetrating lubricant, which is capable of separating objects that, as it already seemed, could become one! Therefore, using the lubricant off-label is fraught with the most "interesting" and not always pleasant consequences. It is absolutely not worth using this composition to clean the terminals of various electrical appliances in the car (and not only). And especially it is not worth pouring WD-40 on ABK elements.
2. Use WD-40 when working with motor or brakes
This is not just not worth doing. It is forbidden to pour WD-40 into the brake system, power unit, or, in principle, apply lubricant to any elements of the listed vehicle components. Both the brakes and the engine have many thin seals and relatively fragile components that can be destroyed by penetrating lubricant. At best, such undertakings end in expensive repairs. At worst - an accident and a hospital bed.
3. Use WD-40 to clean gaskets
What a wonderful shine WD-40 penetrating grease can give to rubber elements, and especially to the seals! They look like a conveyor belt. However, you shouldn't rejoice ahead of time. In fact, lubrication has an extremely negative effect on most types of rubber: it dries them up and causes them to crack as a result, which leads to the loss of any performance characteristics of an important product.
4. Use WD-40 for cleaning paintwork
The popular penetrating lubricant really has amazing cleaning properties. The temptation to use WD to remove those smudged flies on the hood of a car or tar stain on the door is really great. But to do this is more expensive for yourself. This is because the lubricant is guaranteed to remove not only severe contamination, but also damage the paintwork.

5. Use WD-40 in any other way not specified in the instructions
In fact, it is important to understand the main thing: you should not use a penetrating lubricant in any way that is not provided for in its instructions. This applies not only to the car, but also to other areas of the household. Experiments of this kind can end very sadly. Only porridge from oil does not spoil. But to spoil something with the WD-40 is like two fingers on the asphalt!
