Good day, dear reader!

All peoples are unique and inimitable in their own way. It is not surprising that the habits and customs of one people seem strange and even sometimes wild to representatives of another nationality.

When Europeans and Americans come to Russia, they are confronted with primordial Russian traditions that both scare and amuse them at the same time. Foreigners simply cannot understand why the Russians are doing this. And we do not even notice how tightly some habits that seem strange to foreigners have entered our everyday life.

In today's article, I have compiled a rating of the 5 most common household habits inherent in a real Russian person. Ready to get to know yourself? Let's go then!

Habit # 1

First we heat the room to keep it hot, and then we ventilate it because it's hot!

If you say you never do that, I'm sorry, but I won't believe you. All my relatives, friends, and I myself heat the room so as not to freeze, but in the end I have to open the window in order to ventilate the apartment a little, let fresh air into it.

Europeans do the opposite. They don't heat rooms. For Europeans, it is in the order of things when in winter the temperature in the apartment is no more than +14 degrees. They walk around the house in warm clothes, not considering it something strange. As for me, it's better to heat and ventilate than to wrap yourself in blankets and blankets at home!

Habit # 2

Change your shoes in slippers or walk around the apartment barefoot.

What kind of Russian hostess will let you into her home in street shoes? It seems inconceivable to us, because street shoes exist for that, to walk in them on the street. At home, you can change into cozy slippers or wear comfortable, terry socks. It is more pleasant to walk barefoot on soft carpets or warm floors.

It seems logical, but in the same Europe, when entering an apartment or house, it is not customary to take off street shoes.

Habit # 3

Gather a group of friends at home.

The picture is familiar: the weekend has come, and you have invited your friends to have fun, watch movies, play board games, just chat over a cup of tea, etc? I know, because once or twice a month my friends and I gather at us at home.

In Europe and America, this is not accepted. Here they do not invite friends, even the closest ones, but they meet in neutral territory - in a cafe, in a park, in a shopping center, etc.

Habit # 4

Daily hygiene.

When do we - Russians - go to wash? Whenever we want! For Europeans, everything is different, for them going to the shower is an expensive pleasure. Therefore, before hygiene procedures, they check their budget to see if they can afford it now.

Water is expensive in Europe. I read somewhere that the British do not wash more often than once a week, and sometimes once or twice a month.

Habit # 5

Came to visit, you need to eat "to the dump."

In European countries, the table is set very modestly. Their food portions are small, cannot be compared with ours, when one portion can feed three.

When a Russian person comes to visit at a feast, he eats as if for the last time, trying to taste all the dishes in front of him. True, then it is fraught with heartburn and indigestion, but a habit is a habit!
