Winter brings innumerable additional difficulties and hardships to motorists. Few people think for the time being about the fact that in frosty weather it is not so difficult to break the car key in the cylinder of the machine lock. A small amount of ice and not too dexterous movement of the hand is enough for a piece of metal to remain in the key slot. Is there at least one elegant way that will allow you to quickly get out of this situation?
There are at least three "popular" ways to solve this kind of problem. We will not even consider options when the key broke so that a piece of metal sticks out of the hole. Here it is enough to grab the key with pliers or even tweezers and pull it well out of the hole. We will talk about the most serious option, when the debris is hidden in the lock larva.
The easiest and at the same time effective way is to pull the piece out by prying it off. This can be done in one of three ways. First, you can make a long hook from a thin but stiff wire. In this case, its wrapped tail should be very tiny, no more than 3 mm. Such a tool should be quite enough to squeeze into the gap between the fragment and the wall of the lock, grab the ledge and pull out the broken key.
Secondly, you can try to do the same with a regular jigsaw file. Fortunately, it immediately has excellent teeth, which can be used for prying off and then pulling out the splinter. The most important thing when implementing the first two methods is patience and slowness. Haste, oddly enough, will definitely not add speed in this event.

Third, you can use baking soda superglue. To implement the method, you will also need a thin screwdriver with a straight slot that can penetrate the larva. Everyone should be aware that baking soda, when it comes into contact with superglue, makes the latter harden quickly and efficiently, forming a difficultly destructible compound as a result of a chemical reaction. The essence of the method is to gently apply glue and soda to the very tip of the slot, quickly and carefully push a screwdriver into the keyhole, touch and glue a piece of the key to it. All that remains is to wait a minute and pull out the screwdriver along with the splinter.
