Crystalline boric acid is used not only in the medical, technical, and jewelry fields of activity. This drug brings benefits to flower, vegetable, green, fruit crops. At the same time, it is important to properly breed and use it.

Boron deficiency signs
Cultivated plants require a wide range of useful minerals and other compounds for quality development. Their list includes boron, which has a positive effect on metabolic processes, activates the production of chlorophyll, and provides root respiration.
Boric starvation can be detected by examining plants according to the following features:
- the formation of chlorotic marks on young leaves;
- yellowing of the veins;
- leaf blades become smaller, begin to curl, and then fall off;
- the development of the apical buds slows down, while the growth of the lateral ones increases;
- few buds are formed, therefore the ovary does not develop well;
- the ugly form of deformed ripening fruits is manifested;
- the apical parts of the shoots or fragments of the bark die off;
- in pome crops, suberization of fruits appears.
Timely introduction of funds that make up for the lack of boron, allows you to activate growth processes. It is important not to exceed the recommended rates. Excess boron accelerates ripening, but the fruits will not be well stored. The leaf plates are burned when sprayed.
Terms of use
Boric acid is used starting from the seed preparation stage. This preparation accelerates the pecking of the grains and ensures the development of strong seedlings. It will take 2 g of a crystalline preparation for a 10-liter container with settled water.
The seeds are placed in a textile bag, which is immersed in a solution for a day. Cucumber, squash, cabbage seed is enough to withstand 12 hours.
Not all plants need boron to the same extent. Three groups can be distinguished:
- Low demand: legumes and herbs, different varieties of potatoes, strawberries. They feed when signs of boric starvation appear. Can be applied to the soil before sowing.
- Average requirement: stone fruit trees, most vegetables, greens, berry bushes. Use 2 g / 10 l. Spraying is practiced when buds appear. Repeat a week later.
Be sure to add a solution of the drug if the first symptoms of boron deficiency appear, which negatively affects the yield. For example, for potatoes, 12 g of the preparation are dissolved in 20 liters of water. This volume is enough to irrigate a plot of 20 m2.
- High demand: pome fruits, cabbage, beets. On fertile lands, a 0.01% solution is prepared for spraying. With an average fertility rate, 0.02% concentration will be required. For depleted soils, 0.05% is recommended. Top dressing is carried out twice at the same time as for plants with an average need.
Instructions for use
It is useless to dilute the crystalline preparation in cold water, as the solubility will be low. It is necessary to first pour the recommended amount of the drug into a bowl with stirring, with 1 liter of water heated to 70-80 degrees. After cooling, add another 9 liters.
How to measure the drug
When working, it is important not to exceed the dosage of boric acid. For convenience, they are guided by the following ratios:
- 1 hour l. holds 5 g of crystalline preparation.
- To get 1 g of the substance, take it without a slide in a teaspoon and pour it onto paper. Divide into 5 equal portions. Now it is easy to take the required amount for the solution.
How to feed.
Evening is considered the most suitable time for spraying. Choose warm weather without wind. For work, use a fine spray. Do not over-wet the leaves. Moisture should not drain from them.
Root watering is practiced as an emergency. It is carried out with the help of a watering can without falling drops on the aerial part. Mainly used for strawberries and potatoes.
Tomato processing
It is recommended to feed tomatoes with boric acid (1 g / 10 l per 1 m2) at the stage of bud appearance, then during the flowering period and during fruiting.
To increase the yield and prevent the development of late blight at the beginning of the fruit setting period, the following effective mixture can be prepared:
- Combine 10 g of boric acid with wood sifted ash, which will require a 2 liter jar.
- The mixture is poured under stirring with 5 liters of boiling water.
- After cooling down, add another 5 liters of cool water and add 10 ml of pharmaceutical iodine.
- Withstand a day.
The concentrate is diluted 1:10 with clean water before use. 1 liter of nutrient fluid is poured under each tomato bush.
Cucumber processing
Use a 0.05% solution. For a 10-liter container of water, 5 g of boric acid crystals are measured.
Processing is practiced at the same time as for tomatoes. The tool activates the formation of ovaries, promotes better development and improvement of the taste of greenery, increased drought resistance, and strengthened roots.
Strawberry processing
In early spring, the drug (1 g) is diluted in a glass of hot water and poured into a bucket with 10 liters of water. 1 g of potassium permanganate crystals are dissolved without sediment. The resulting volume is enough for watering 30-40 plants.
For the second feeding, performed before flowering, a glass of ash in 1 liter of boiling water is insisted for a day. After straining, the ash extract is poured into the tank, 2 g of boric acid diluted in 50 ml of hot water and 2 g of potassium permanganate are added. Pour 10 liters of settled water and mix.
Pour 300-500 ml of liquid under the bush. The same solution is prepared if the symptoms of boron deficiency are traced on the strawberries.
Application for flowering
Boron has a beneficial effect on the development of ornamental plants. The composition based on this preparation makes the flowering more lush and long lasting.
Use a spraying ratio of 0.5 g / 10 l. In order to perform root feeding - 1-2 g / 10 l.
From ants
Boric acid is successfully used on the site if it is necessary to get rid of a massive invasion of ants. Some options:
- Grind 2 egg yolks with ½ h. l. crystalline boric acid powder. Make pea-sized balls. The bait is laid out along the ant paths.
- Boil 3 potato tubers without peeling. Grind them with the addition of 3 yolks, 10 g of boric acid and 1 tsp. l. fine granulated sugar. Balls from this mass are laid out in places where ants are seen.
- Combine 1 tbsp. l. water with twice the amount of glycerin. When rubbing, crystals of boric acid are introduced (1/3 tsp. l.), honey (1 tsp. l.). Pour in granulated sugar (1.5 tbsp. l.). Make and lay out balls.
Inexpensive and affordable boric acid should be included in the list of products focused on caring for a variety of plants. When used correctly, the effect will be remarkable.
