There is nothing difficult in the installation of drain pits. I wrote today's article in order to confirm this statement. Simply, many do not know some of the nuances and tricks, which will be discussed further.
I ate a dog at the installation of drain pits, as they say. My experience in this business is tens of years, so I want to share with you some life hacks.
The bottom line is that many Russian cottage settlements have no central sewerage system, despite the fact that housing in them is considered elite. Residents of cottages make drain pits using an effective and budget option.
Pits are dug of different depths, depending on the amount of work, as well as on where the underground waters lie.
When the depth of the waters does not exceed 1 meter, then the depth of the pit will be equal, respectively, to 1 meter. For its installation, you will need a meter ring, it is desirable that its diameter is wide enough - at least 2.2 meters.
In the case when the depth of the groundwater is 2 meters, the depth of the pit will be 2 meters, i.e. 2 rings. But its diameter can be made smaller - about 1.7 meters.
For example, consider a pit a little over 3 meters deep with 3 rings:
- We lower the concrete bottom into the dug hole, laying it on the ground below. You can sprinkle the clay with gravel, but I do not do this for certain reasons, which I will share with you below;
- We install rings on top of the concrete bottom, we close all this with a lid, on which a plastic hatch should be installed. It is through it that you will pump out waste, as well as check the condition of the well.
Additionally, you can treat the rings with bitumen, cover the seams with cement mortar. I omit these moments, since cracks and pores disappear over time: they are closed up by all kinds of microorganisms living in the pit. They form a thick, reliable film through which "the enemy will not pass."
Typically, customers need these pits. If necessary, the pits need to be pumped out, they do this about every month. One pumping procedure costs 500 rubles (approximate amount).
There is another 2-hole option which is more efficient but less popular. It seems to people that the installation of such a double pit is an expensive pleasure. In fact, it allows you to save your budget several times over.
Sharing a secret!
Waste and water fill the pit to the very top. If you use a little life hack, then the pit will not fill to the top. It is necessary to install a special unit in it, which will separate clean water from debris. Solid, heavy particles always settle at the bottom, and a film of grease and dirt forms on top. In the middle there is clear water, which is to be separated.
A tee installed on the overflow pipe will help in this matter. It can easily separate clean water, so that you can not use the services of sewers throughout the year.
The advantage is that there is no soil contamination. Over the course of my 12 years of work in the water supply and sanitation sector, I have repeatedly seen what the soil under the drain pit turns into.
Once I dismantled a 10-year-old pit, the soil under which was contaminated only 30 cm down, and this despite the fact that the bottom of this pit was not concreted.
Thanks to the overflow, it will be possible to save about 7 thousand rubles annually. Within 3 years, the funds spent on the installation of such a pit will fully pay off. The service life of the drain pit reaches several decades. And it is enough to pump it out once every couple of years.
I promised to tell you why I am not sprinkling gravel at the bottom of the pit. It's just that this material has a culvert capacity.
Microorganisms living in the pit will block all the distances between the rubble stones, and the water will have no way out. I had to open a different one hole in order to pull out all the rubble from the bottom!
