What material is considered the most environmentally friendly? That's right - a tree! Wood is used in almost any construction industry. With its help, they carry out decoration, prepare pieces of furniture, etc. There are a lot of variations.

But the tree has a significant drawback: over time, the material begins to rot, dry out, and deform. These problems can be dealt with. And special tools help with this.

Unfortunately, many of the formulations sold in stores today are overpriced. But the buyer always wants to save money, not to the detriment of his own health. How to give wood a glossy look, make it moisture resistant, hide all defects? In this article, I will share with you one little trick.

Many people treat wood with natural oils. They get into the pores of the material, do not allow moisture to be absorbed into the wood. The most suitable oils are tung, linseed, teak, tar and sunflower.

Someone might argue that linseed oil makes wood yellow, and he would be right. But this can be avoided. It is necessary to pour the oil into a transparent container (preferably glass), and put it in the sun. After a few months, the oil will become lighter, and after processing the wood will not turn it yellowish.

Teak, tung and tar do not spoil the look of wood, but their price tag strongly "bites". A good option - sunflower oil, but with its help it will not work to fight decay. And when you apply it to the material, the oil will not completely dry.

Vaseline oil

I think I will surprise you by saying that no one has come up with anything better than Vaseline oil for wood processing. In essence, it is liquid paraffin. It is extracted from the oil fraction by distillation of kerosene and thorough purification.

The oil does not contain any harmful substances, which is another indisputable advantage of it. On the surface of the wood, it forms a thin film that does not allow moisture to penetrate into the material.

Another plus is that vaseline oil does not smell, does not paint, does not spread. After using it, the tree will not deform.

This miracle remedy is sold in a pharmacy and is very inexpensive: about 50 rubles per bottle. In terms of liters, the cost of 1 liter of vaseline oil is about 350 - 500 rubles.

Also suitable for wood processing lamp oil. It is even cheaper: about 200 rubles per liter. It often contains olive oil, which makes it less versatile than petroleum jelly.

After applying oil to the surface of the wood, wait 15 minutes and then wipe it off with a dry cloth. You can do this manipulation twice. In this case, the wood will darken, but in general its appearance will not be affected.
