Hello dear friends!
On the Internet, I saw one person use kinetic sand as a mold for pouring wax. So I thought, why not try pouring plaster into such a mold and see what happens. But it turned out very cool, I really liked the result and I am sharing it with you.
I used:
1. Kinetic sand;
2. Construction gypsum;
3. The figurine with which he was making a copy;
4. Container;
5. A spray can of paint or something else;
6. Small hard brush.
Kinetic Sand is a children's toy that you can buy online or at a children's store. There is also sand plasticine, it will not work, as it is very hard. Kinetic sand is not very cheap, but if you look around, you can find it at an attractive price. For example, I bought 5 kg of sand on the local market for 1,500 rubles.
It is worth considering that this is not a one-time purchase, and that hundreds of castings can be made from this sand.
In theory, it is even possible to make a volumetric shape from this sand, but in practice I have not tried it yet.
And yet, how convenient it will be to work with it depends on the quality of the sand. Quality sand is fluid and soft. It flows off the hands and molds well.
Step 1.
I put the sand in a container of a suitable size and rolled it out with paint and varnish cans. The rolling pin can be any suitable item.
Step 2.
He pressed the figurine into the sand and carefully pulled it out.
The result is such a cool print.
Step 3.
Diluted gypsum in water is very liquid. There are no proportions, I did everything by eye. Gypsum used conventional construction.
Poured gypsum into the mold and left for 1 hour.
Step 4.
An hour later, he carefully removed the figurine from the sand and cleaned it with a brush from the adhering sand.
The detail is very good. Honestly, I thought it would be much worse, but the result is pleasing.
