When we just bought our own plot with a house in the village, we immediately began to improve it. To prevent strangers from staring at us, it was decided to enclose the territory with a blank fence. For these purposes, I chose professional sheets - a proven and reliable material.

Profiled sheets have many advantages: they are cheap, lightweight, easy to install. No more than 5 days have passed, and our site has already hidden behind a high fence. The total length of the fence is 86 meters.

Today we will focus specifically on the fence made of professional sheets. Although this material has many advantages, it turned out that it also has many disadvantages. But I found out about them only after several years of operation of the fence. At first, nothing foreshadowed trouble, but over time, problems emerged, which I will tell you about.

The main mistake I made when installing the fence was using roofing screws as fasteners. Surely I'm not the only one who did just that. As it turned out, this error led to a lot of unpleasant consequences.

Here they are - the "culprits" of this problem)
Here they are - the "culprits" of this problem)

I propose to delve into the topic of roofing screws:

  • 1. First of all, I will note that they do not carry any protective functions. Even a child can easily unscrew the self-tapping screw from the fence. We can fall asleep with a fence, and wake up without it, since anyone who wants to can easily disassemble it. It's very good that no one has done this yet. Hopefully it won't!
  • 2. The second nuance is the formation of rust. When you screw the self-tapping screw into the profiled sheets, it leaves holes on them. Over time, they rust due to the effects of precipitation: snow, rain, etc. Frankly, it looks very sloppy and ugly.
Of course, I started looking for ways to solve this problem. I found out that rust can be prevented. For this you need to use galvanized rivets that do not corrode. They are also more difficult to remove. But I didn't know that before. Next time I'll be smarter, but for now, I'll have to “admire” what has already been done.

3. Over the years, the screws burned out in the sun and began to stand out against the general background of professional sheets.

Those who decide to make a fence from professional sheets should take into account my negative experience. It is better to foresee everything than to reap the fruits of your inexperience later.
