We insulate windows and doors
Everyone knows that most of the heat escapes through non-insulated windows. So you need to insulate them first. First, you need to inspect all frames and sashes in order to find the smallest places through which warm air leaves the house.
Use a sealant or special window putty that you purchase from a hardware store. Use them to strengthen the joints between the glass and the frame. Then you can use a self-adhesive foam insulation and lay it around the edges of the window. All large holes and slots can be easily repaired with ordinary pieces of cloth or cotton wool, and glued on top with even paper or woven strips. So that they do not come off later, prepare and use a thick starch paste to fix it.
If cracks or chips appear on glass surfaces, then such canvases must be replaced with new ones. If this is not possible, then seal the cracks with ordinary stationery tape. Due to its transparency, it will be practically invisible. You will do better if you tape the glass on the inside and outside. Be sure to ensure that the surface is not damp.
To reduce heat leakage, it is advisable to hang shutters made of wood from the outside of the windows, and then close them tightly. This method of warming a summer cottage in the cold is considered the most budgetary. The shutters should be constantly closed, with this approach, the optimal temperature will remain in the house.

It is important to insulate both window openings and doors. Fill any gaps in them with sealant or unnecessary rags and place strips of material on top.
It is recommended to install a layer of insulation around the perimeter so that the door closes as tightly as possible.
Inside it is worth hanging a curtain made of thick fabric. For this purpose, you can use an old carpet to protect you from the cold air. You can easily nail it to the top door frame with your own hands. You can also use an old blanket to insulate your doorway.
We insulate the floor and ceiling
The flooring of the country house should also be checked and all gaps should be eliminated, especially those located near the baseboards. Furniture should be removed, and sheets of plastic film should be laid on the surface with a foil layer on top. Secure this material with a furniture stapler or small nails so that one side overlaps the wall by about 10-15 cm, and the other edge lies flat on the floor surface. This will make the room much warmer.
Also, do not forget about ceiling insulation. The easiest way is to lay the foam in several layers on the attic floor. If this material is absent, you can use durable cardboard, for example, cut the packaging box left over from any household appliances. Reduces warm air loss and plastic wrap. Such insulation can be independently attached to the ceiling in the house.
