It stands out among its mushroom cousins ​​and is not considered a bad mushroom like toadstools. But they almost never rip off. Although it is very common, even too much, its abundance can be envied. But only the mushroom pickers are in no hurry to send it to the basket, but on the contrary strive to kick it like some fly agaric.

Valui often disappoints mushroom pickers with its appearance, since from afar it can easily be mistaken for some other noble mushroom, for example, white mushroom. They really have many similarities, but upon closer inspection they cannot be confused.

When the mushroom is just emerging from the ground, it looks like a ball. The sizes of such a ball can be different - from a nut to an apple. A special sign is abundant mucus. If the ball is cut off, then a leg is found under it, which is reliably hidden under the rounded head.

Valui are not popular with mushroom pickers also for the reason that lovers of quiet hunting prefer noble ones more - white, boletus, boletus, mushrooms and volushki. They are more difficult to find, and if you are distracted by the numerous valuei, then there is simply not enough space in the basket for other mushrooms. Therefore, they try not to waste efforts on snotty mushrooms, while saving space for other mushrooms.

Valui grow in large placers, and you can fill the basket to the top, spending very little time. Therefore, it is better to come separately for these mushrooms.

How to cook valui mushrooms

The first time (2-3 days), the value should be soaked in cold water. The water is changed several times, and after soaking, it is salted with the addition of spices. Salting period - 2 months. Valui are not inferior to milk mushrooms in their taste.

How Valui grows

The fungus is often found in mixed forests, conifers, under birches, oaks. Growth time is from July to October, peak is August.

Valui has a hard pulp, bitter and pungent in taste with an unpleasant odor.

False value

There is a mushroom similar to Valui, but it is not recommended to eat it. This is an inedible mushroom with plates on the inner surface of the cap, which has a specific smell reminiscent of the aroma of horseradish, hence the second name of the false value - horseradish mushroom. Occurs from August to September in deciduous forests.

The cap is convex with a tubercle, the color of the cap is brown or dirty yellow. It secretes juice in rainy weather. The leg has the same color as the cap, it does not have a ring inherent in poisonous mushrooms. The pulp smells unpleasant and tastes bitter.
