Good afternoon, dear guests!
Today, I would like to share information about a very useful tool for me - about the micrometer!
A micrometer is a high-precision measuring instrument for measuring the linear dimensions of a part. It performs all the same functions as a vernier caliper, only it has an error not 0.05 mm, like a vernier caliper, but much smaller, starting from 0.001 mm or 1 micron.
Micrometers are indispensable instruments in the sphere of turning work, but I have nothing to do with this profession and the micrometer for me is more a testing tool than a worker. And even as a test, it has already paid off dozens of times, since stores in reality are not selling what customers want to buy.
So, my micrometer model is Megeon 80800.
This is a high-precision domestic low-cost digital micrometer with a range of linear dimensions from 0 to 25 mm. The error is minimal and is only 0.001 mm, the measurement accuracy on the display is the same.
The tool is solid, the body is made of metal, the handle is plastic.
The digital indicator allows you to read the readings much faster than in the mechanical analogue. Additionally, by pressing the ABS button, the micrometer switches the measurement mode to inches.
The battery is included in the package.
The measurement is very simple. First, you need to use a ratchet (twisting handle) to rest the movable rod against the fixed heel so that not even the slightest gap remains between them. After that, press the "SET" button - the device values will be reset to zero and the micrometer will enter the measurement standby mode.
In order not to break the threaded mechanism inside the tool, the ratchet is equipped with a ratchet, which starts to work immediately when the rod rests on the part.
When measuring the thickness of wavy surfaces, the tool is supplied with a stem attachment in the form of a rubber cap with a ball. She helped me measure the thickness of a sheet of metal tile when the supplier stated that the thickness of the metal was guaranteed not less than 0.5 mm.
When I took out the device, the representative left the store, ostensibly for a break.
Also, using this nozzle, I measured the thickness of the steel of stainless chimney systems and bought what I need only in the fourth store. I will say that a huge share of manufacturers, if they declare a thickness of 0.5 mm, then there will certainly not be more than 0.4 mm, and if it claims 0.8 mm, then there will be no more than 0.65 mm - I checked this and proved it to myself repeatedly!
I still have not bought a metal profile and, due to high prices, have already changed my mind about making a metal fence. But, at that moment, when I wanted to buy, I traveled a lot of markets and building stores. In most cases, sellers are hanging on to their ears.
Here's an example:
Declared by the seller that the thickness of the metal is 0.35 mm. But, even 0.35 is considered "nothing" for the fence, so the fact of measurement generally makes you swear at the store. The actual thickness does not even reach 0.3 mm. including metal coating with paint !!!
But, with a reinforced profile for the gypsum board, I did not suffer for a long time. I found the thickness of 0.6 mm the first time, and by the way, here a lot of people try not to lie, which made me very happy! The main thing is not to look in the direction of the noname product or, in a simple way, "leftist" without names.
I bought this micrometer a year ago at a price of 4500 rubles, but at the moment the supplier has not changed the recommended retail price, so many online stores still trade at the old price:
Yes, Megeon is a budget price segment, but despite this, their tools are of very high quality and have a very low error. I don’t take 100 measurements every day, so I don’t need devices for 20-30 thousand rubles, but in everyday life there is enough of such an instrument.
And that's all, thank you for your attention and I hope the article has become useful to you!
