Robots and geeks float on the Moscow River

  • Sep 02, 2021

This year, the main popular science festival in Russia, GeekPicnic, was held on a large ship.

Probably no other ship in world history has had so many robots, virtual reality glasses and girls in strange costumes. :)

For over a year we had to live without festivals. Now something starts a little bit, sometimes in unusual formats. GeekPicnic has moved from parks to ship. Despite the not very cheap tickets, there were many visitors.

The upper deck was almost entirely given to the robots. Robot Alex from Promobot actively "glued" to the girls, successfully distinguishing them from the representatives of the "stronger" sex.

The robodog walked around the food court, periodically getting up on its hind legs and "begging for food."

In the center of the deck, a robotic spider roamed about.

This is what this "perfect pet" can do in demo mode.

They also demonstrated air quality monitoring systems with many Climate Guard sensors, and also showed and sold at a discount a new version of the "Deep" Sleep Cube (I told about it:

Danya Voronkov (Balalaunj) played the electric balalaika to music stylized under the eight-bit melodies of the first household computers.

Unfortunately, I only managed to film the very end of his most recent performance at Geek Picnic.

The lower deck was almost entirely devoted to virtual reality. They showed VR games, VR training and even VR erotica in the 18+ zone.

What do you think all these girls are doing?

They paint in a single virtual space, not what you think. :)

A biohacking corner is located nearby. Here are various bionic muscle tension-controlled hand prostheses.

About the "Mobile Chipping Point", on which 19 people implanted EmMarine and NFC chips, I have already told (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/1263435.html).

There was a lecture hall at the festival. I listened to two lectures, the first on the discovery of the gene responsible for aging and longevity, and the second on quantum technology.

I planned to see everything in one two-hour "session", but stayed on the ship for more than five hours - it was so interesting.
