The use of alcohol at official ceremonial state events has very deep and distant roots in history. As you know, only teetotalers and ulcers do not drink at someone else's expense. However, even this rule stops working when it comes to interstate politeness, status and authority. They drink at official receptions quite often, although not at all. Moreover, for this case, it is not at all what kind of dishes is used.

Back in the 16th century, at official events in the Kremlin, nobles and ambassadors drank alcohol in normal glasses. This changed for the first time under Peter I, who did not like drunkenness (which did not prevent him from organizing those festivities), and therefore introduced a rather modest and even miniature Kremlin dishes for alcohol. The modern "Kremlin special room" appeared during the Soviet Union when Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev was staying. The correct name for these glasses is lafitniki.

The volume of an ordinary lafitnik is exactly 50 grams. At the same time, the volume of the Kremlin lafitniks is even less - 12 grams. A distinctive feature of this type of tableware is the complete absence of edges. The shape of the container resembles a bell. And the most important thing in the case of the Kremlin glass is that when alcohol is poured into it, it looks as if it contains 35-40 grams of alcohol! The distorted effect is achieved through the peculiarities of the shape and glass. So, if you look closely at the lafitnik close, you will notice that it has a very high bottom.

Thus, if the lafitnik is filled with a colored drink, then the bottom in it is clearly visible. However, if a glass is filled with a transparent drink - say, vodka, then visually the volume of the dishes increases dramatically. Why is all this done? In fact, everything is extremely simple. The joint use of alcohol in the diplomatic and state traditions is symbolic and even (not we are afraid of this word) "ritual" character - a kind: "I trust you, because we drink from the same dish." At the same time, people are different. In order for everyone to remain sober and clear of mind, the volume of lafitniks has been seriously reduced.
