6. Eclecticism
The trend towards mixing styles is clearly visible in French interiors. The most popular is a combination of classic and modern. Classical, as a rule, make the decoration: on the walls - moldings and stucco, on the floor - parquet.
Such a background is great for implementing a variety of experiments - furniture and accessories of futuristic shapes look especially unusual on it.
5. A mix of antiquity and novelty
You can mix not only styles, but also eras. Vintage pieces are combined with the latest trends. Such combinations can be observed both in small details and in larger objects.
For example, bold, fresh pieces of art can be juxtaposed with gilt-framed mirrors and carved consoles, while modern couches and chairs can be juxtaposed with retro-style bookcases.
4. Authenticity
The creators of truly French interiors place particular emphasis on quality and value authenticity. They will always prefer the original imitation, so instead of modern retro-style furniture it is better purchase a vintage product with small chips or abrasions that will bring a real spirit antiquity.
Wherever possible, it is recommended to preserve historical stucco or brickwork. Such things will emphasize the venerable age and status of the apartments. But feigned luxury should be avoided - for example, an abundance of gilding is not welcome.

Most French interiors are dominated by white and its shades. Milky, ivory, vanilla, coconut, pearl - these and many other tones become a great backdrop for art objects, mirrors and accessories.
Sometimes white also becomes dominant in furniture and textiles.

The ideal French-style apartment has some architectural features. They almost always have high ceilings, panoramic windows, arches or swing doors.
Redevelopment will help bring a standard apartment closer to the ideal - replacing ordinary balcony glazing with French, increasing doorways and installing double-leaf interior doors.
