However, in reality, not even all those who are constantly engaged in sports or combat shooting know about the purpose of this accessory. The fact is that the mysterious belt is used only by those who try to deliver the most accurate shots. What does this accessory do?
The mysterious "strap" attached along the barrel of a sniper rifle is not really a strap at all. This accessory is by no means used for carrying weapons. This device is called "Anti-fake tape". Such accessories are used mainly in sports shooting and less often in real combat conditions. Including because all unnecessary (even potentially useful) is an additional burden and unnecessary inconvenience.
We need an anti-flicker tape to improve the accuracy of firing. Does everyone have at least some idea of how firearms work? In this case, we are interested in the fact that a representative amount of thermal energy is released during the shot. It also heats the barrel of the weapon, which subsequently begins to cool down in a regular manner. Hot air is the lightest, and therefore it immediately rushes upward from the hot metal.
As a result, a stream of hot air passes directly through the focus of the optical sight and creates distortions, glare, mirages, which interfere with normal aiming. Things are especially sad in cold weather, as well as when the shooter needs to fire several shots in a row from a sniper rifle. The anti-flicker tape, in turn, becomes an obstacle in the path of hot air and takes it away from the sight in different directions so that it does not interfere with the shooter's aim. To do this, the tape should not be narrower than the rifle barrel. It is even better if the tape is wider by a centimeter or two. Such slings are usually made of synthetic materials.
