Eradicating garden treatment is an active fight against pathogens of various diseases and insect pests. The procedure includes a number of activities.
Most suitable time for eradication treatment
On this score, experienced gardeners were divided into two camps:
- The former argue that it is best to carry out processing as soon as the crop has been harvested and all the leaves have fallen.
- The opposite opinion says that disinfection of the garden is most effective in the spring, before the onset of sap flow, and before the buds bloom.
After analyzing both opinions, I came to the conclusion that the appropriateness of the autumn treatment depends on whether the trees were sick in the summer. If yes, then at the end of the harvest and after complete leaf fall, I proceed to disinfect the garden. My time for the event falls around the end of October - the beginning of November.
Preparations suitable for the procedure
As the goal of eradication treatment is to get rid of pathogens completely infections and insect pests, then I do not even take into account biological preparations and folk funds. They show their effectiveness at a stable temperature of at least 15 ° C in good, clear weather.
I treat the garden with insecticides or fungicides.
Copper sulfate
A popular remedy with high antiseptic properties. It actively fights against pathogens of various diseases, has shown itself well in the fight against fungal spores.
It is an effective prophylactic agent against such dangerous diseases as:
- scab;
- coccomycosis;
- powdery mildew.
I use 3% or 5% powder for eradication in the fall.
Bordeaux liquid
I get it in the form of a suspension, which includes slaked lime and copper sulfate. There are 5% and 3%.
If the trees were sick in the summer season, I take a 5% suspension.
If not, 3% is enough.
The drug has shown its versatility in the fight against several types of pathogenic microorganisms at once.
Urea
Fertilizers, which are most often found in the form of granules. Contains a large amount of nitrogen. I use it not only for disinfecting plants, but also for treating trunks.
I prepare the working solution as follows:
- urea - 500 g;
- water - 10 liters.
I dilute the granules in warm water and spray the plants thoroughly, paying special attention to the lower branches.
inkstone
I use it as a preventive measure in the fight against diseases such as:
- powdery mildew;
- scab;
- gray rot;
- fruit rot.
I make a 5% solution, I apply it exclusively after the leaves have completely fallen off.
Preparing the garden for eradication treatment
I always prepare the garden before spraying. This increases the effectiveness of the event.
I do this:
- I fully harvest and remove the carrion.
- Pruning broken branches, dry and with signs of disease. I use only a sharp instrument, previously disinfected in a solution of potassium permanganate.
- Moss, lichen, peeling bark I clean with a metal brush to a healthy tissue. I disinfect the wounds and treat them with garden varnish so that they do not get an infection. Before starting the procedure, I spread roofing material or polyethylene under the tree so that the cleaned off infected parts, as well as bacteria, fall on it and do not get into the soil.
- Then I carefully remove the fallen leaves from the trunk circle.
- I weed and dig up the soil on the bayonet of the shovel - some pests can move to the upper layers of the soil.
- I am doing eradication treatment.
To disinfect the garden, I choose a dry, windless day and no precipitation, this weather will allow you to get the maximum effect from the procedure.
Timely eradicating treatment of the garden allows you to get healthy plants that have high immunity and give a stable harvest.
