5. Blind copy

Do not blindly follow fashion trends. Looking at photographs of designer interiors, you form an observation, and do not receive a ready-made instruction for action. You should not try to recreate an exact copy of the interior you like. More often than not, such experiments fail.

❌ Don't do that.
❌ Don't do that.

For example, with all the desire, a high-quality loft in a typical socket cannot be realized; it will require high ceilings and an open floor plan. Also, do not try to fit an island in a 10 m² kitchen or hang a three-tiered crystal chandelier in "Khrushchev" with ceilings of 2.5 m. The choice of style and solutions should be dictated by the original characteristics apartments.

4. Wrong color handling

To make the interior look harmonious, you need to think over the color palette in advance. It is important to consider that 60% of the space should be given to the primary color. As a rule, these are finishes and large furniture. Do not take too bright colors as a basis.

As for accents, it is recommended to choose no more than two colors for them in a percentage ratio of 30 to 10%. This will help avoid confusion. For example, 30% will go to textiles and small furniture, and 10% will show up in the metallic sheen of lamp housings, mirror frames and accessories.

3. Flat monochrome

Creating a monochrome interior is not an easy task. It is beyond the power of a beginner. To prevent the design from looking “flat”, a subtle play on shades and a variety of textures are needed.

In addition, it is important to take into account the nuances of color behavior - to observe in advance how the shades change depending on from the time of day, how they look in natural and artificial lighting, to cloudy and sunny the weather.

2. An abundance of vintage items

Due to the popularity of the mid-century style, many are trying to bring as many vintage pieces into the interior as possible. The massive purchase of armchairs from the times of the USSR on Avito has already led to a noticeable rise in prices.

❌ Don't do that.

Of course, love for Soviet-made furniture and accessories is not criminal, but in the interior they should be used in doses. Otherwise, the apartment will no longer look modern and relevant. This applies to any rare items.

1. Excess light

Designers constantly insist that a single chandelier in the center of the room is not the best lighting option. However, this statement is often misinterpreted -
the chandelier is replaced with spotlights around the entire perimeter of the ceiling. As a result, due to the bright light, the atmosphere in the room can become uncomfortable.

Moreover, it does not help in the least to work out the volume of the room. To do this, the lamps should be located on different levels in clearly defined areas - above the dining table, behind the sofa, above the work surface, on the sides of the bed, etc.
