Let's look at an example. Let's take a 10-liter canister of fire protection. It is enough to process seven Mauerlat beams. It turns out not too economically. A whole roof will need at least 12 fire protection canisters.
Let's move on to the calculations: the cost of one canister is 1.5 thousand rubles. That is, at least 18 thousand rubles will have to be paid on the entire roof. And that's just fire protection!
During my school years I had problems with chemistry. But my foreman in this subject was a solid excellent student. He then suggested that I make fire protection with my own hands. As a result, we managed to save a lot of money.
Shop fire protection consists of elementary components:
- water;
- boric acid;
- dye.
That's all the wisdom. It is boric acid that saves wood from fire and insect attacks. It is not for nothing that it is also treated with ecowool, in which insects never start, and which does not undergo combustion. When exposed to high temperatures, it will smolder, but will not ignite.

The recipe for the preparation of fire protection for wood processing
The list of ingredients is as follows:
- 9 liters of water;
- A kilogram of boric acid;
- a kilogram of sodium carbonate;
- and, if desired, color scheme.
You can prepare any amount of fire protection, the main thing is to observe the above proportions. Kohler is an optional ingredient. However, if the tool is colored, it will be more convenient to navigate which bars you have already processed, and which have not yet.
By the way, in the recipe taken from the Internet, it was written that you need to take 3 kilograms of sodium carbonate. It turned out to be a lot for us, so we only use the kilogram. To apply protection to wood, you can use a roller, brush or spray. The effect in all cases will be the same, only the consumption is different.
What is the cost of homemade wood fire protection?
We buy ingredients in 25 kg bags. The cost of a bag of boric acid is about 1.8 thousand rubles, sodium carbonate costs 700 rubles per bag. It turns out that the cost of 225 liters of fire protection is no more than 2.5 thousand rubles.
If you buy fire protection in such quantities in a store, you will have to spend at least 37 thousand rubles. The entire roof needs 120 liters of the product. In total, this turns out to be 1300 rubles. And if they took a shop, they would spend 18 thousand. rubles. Do you feel the difference ?!
It turns out almost 14 times cheaper than the store! And also the quality and effect of a homemade one is much greater!
